I got a good night's sleep. I don't know if J.D. tried to climb up and sleep with me and purr, I was out like a light.
It is a nice cool morning. It is amazing how quickly winter is coming. The sun seems to be rising later and setting sooner everyday, fast.
J.D. has been on a couple short walk. He's not super bright, but seems to be feeling okay. He licked at some HC this morning. And he ate a few treats last night. It has been crossing my mind to try a bit of mirtazapine. If it's an anti-depressant in humans, it may help to lighten his mood when he's feeling depressed (from all the syringing and meds, or maybe it's just not feeling good :-| ) and maybe have the added benefit of stimulating his appetite, too. My bottles of it are probably two years old, but they probably still work. Some people give a little bit of it everyday, right?
I'm trying to get him more used to getting his syringe feeding in the morning and at night as if I was going to work for the day. Last night I quit feeding at +3.25 and he got 20ml of MaxCal and some Pepcid at +11.75, then he got 10ml Wellness (easier on his tummy because of less fat) with Ondansetron, Cerenia, Flagyl, and methyl B12 at AMPS, and 10ml of Wellness with the RenaKare at +1. Normally, I would be gone to work by now, but I am trying to work into this slowly. He will get another few syringes throughout the morning. I keep trying to interest him in some food or treats but it's been a no go since his first bit of HC early this morning.
Weight yesterday at 10:00am was 10lbs 2oz and this morning at 7:00am 10lbs 4.5oz. Although my Salter 914 Toddler Scale was acting a little funky this morning. First it was flashing between 10lbs 7oz and 10lbs 6.5oz and then it was going up and down. I guess it's sensitive and J.D. was moving too much. I've had it a long time, and normally, it doesn't go up and down that much.
I think I will try to just do his fluids once today instead of twice. I'm not convinced on this thought, yet. We'll see how he acts today. Right now his gums are slippery. He is laying at my feet, so I just reached down.
Eye goobers: He had eye goobers in his right eye again. He had them last Wednesday, too. Greenish grayish. And his eye seemed extra watery last night. It's just what he needs, is an eye infection.
That's my morning report. ;-)
Squeaky and KT said:More hugs Dyana. RenaKare must be about the same thing as RenalK. It IS a pain and Doc hated it...doesn't sound like JD minded it so that's great!! If I let it sit more than a few seconds in the syringe, it stuck the syringe and I'd miss my opportunity I'd fought for...
HUGS!

Larry and Kitties said:You can try removing the syringe plunger and squirting the stuff into the back end of the plunger. When I syringe feed my cats I use a little spoon and fill the syringe that way.
