Third time she has hit 50 lately! I was going to gather a few more days data before lowering her dose, but she has been consistently under 100 so I'll just go ahead and reduce her next shot to 0.25u. Wish me luck

Congrats on the reduction and good luck!

BTW, a reduction is also earned when the cat regularly has its lowest BGs in the normal range of a healthy cat (50 - 80 mg/dL) and stays under 100 mg/dl overall for at least one week.

Unfortunately, I accidentally bought 300 syringes without the half-unit markings... so it will be a challenge to do these <0.5 unit doses

If you use calipers you can dose without the half unit marks. They are really helpful in measuring smaller doses like 0.25u and 0.10u which are really hard to eyeball.

Thank you for that link about earning reductions! I don't think I've read that post before, and it had some interesting discussions very relevant to my situation.

I've thought about getting some calipers as well. My partner does all the insulin shots ever since we switched over to lantus, and he thinks he can eyeball the 0.25u dose so I will see how Dixie does with that. I guess as long as the dose is relatively consistent, it doesn't matter as much about the exact dosage (as long as it is lower than before ).
