07/28 - Jaxon - AMPS 77 +6 36 +6.25 101 +8.5 95 +10 67 PMPS 76 +3 70 +6 77

I just gave him like 2 tsp of MC with honey (and it had a little bit of his breakfast LC mixed in) used more gravy than the MC food itself .... I meant to check between AM and now, but fell back asleep

Hi Allison, I am just seeing this. Guess this was expected (him earning another reduction, that is).
Please test again and if he is still below 50, please feed some more MC (+ honey).

When I tested again got 101 and I retested got even higher 128 .... I am quite low on strips, waiting for DCIN to get back to me if they can order strips for me or not

I did not think to check because he had been in the 70s when I checked 6hrs before .... I cannot check too much right now or I risk running out of strips ... if DCIN cannot get them (which I understand) I have to wait till Friday for money .... or use my backup meter which I have nearly 100 strips for

Literally just before I posted it 1:36 and 1:36pm
Sorry. If you could tell me in terms of whether it was +6.5 or +6.75 etc? I am in a different time zone.
And how much time after the MC + honey were these tests?

I understand. I was expecting him to earn another reduction soon, so I didn't think the number was off either - till I saw the next test. I would nevertheless reduce to 0.50U from tonight.

Is this a human meter? You can use it if strips runs out. Just make a note in your SS when you switch meters.

Both the meters I have are human .... the other is the Contour Next (it just requires a larger sample, is why I switched to the Freestyle)

Ok. Is this normal that some cats change this quickly on insulin? I know he was switched to LC food right at diagnosis in November .... he was 477 at diagnosis (converted to US units) ... dropped into 200s on the new diet (once I settled on FF anyways) ....

I am just surprised at how soon after starting insulin this is happening is all .... if I am reading it right, that cat took close to a year to come completely off insulin :)

Like I said last night...I would have reduced to .5 this morning. Whatever's going on with Jaxon's pancreas, it looks like it's kicking into gear!

Now that he's in the 100's, I'd test at least 1 more time (about an hour from those tests) to make sure he's not coming too far down again.

Tested using backup meter (low on strips for my Freestyle and I noted it on the sheet in comments). He tested as 95

Tests after +8.5 are being done on my backup meter (Contour Next) because I am almost out of strips for my other meter and cannot get more until Friday. Last test (+10) read 63. His next shot is in just under 2 hours ... and will be 0.5 units as recommended here

Then I wouldn't worry about it unless he were to start acting sick. Usually a cat that's producing ketones will look and act miserable.

That's a beautiful cycle he's doing tonight! Go Jaxon!
