I'm sorry, I am later than late today and have to get out the door.

J.D. ate some food on his own today (bites) and was syringed the rest.
Tonight I have a H.O.A. Meeting.

Sending healing vines to all who need some, including J.D.

Re: 07/24 J.D. PMPS 269 acting weird

I talked to J.D.'s vet today. She said the Occult Blood test must have come in after she left at noon the other day. I mentioned the test result and she said that there are lots of reasons for false positives, and to retest in 2 weeks.

She heard my concern and brought up the Carafate, but I told her the dosing was really hard to do, and that I had just started him on Pepcid BID again, and she agreed to wait and see how he did with the Pepcid and Baytril and also that he may need Baytril ongoing and something about the pulse dosing (he was on two weeks on and four weeks off, earlier this year). I think he may need more like 1 month on, but we'll see.

I asked her about a urinalysis, but said that probably won't show anything since he's already started the antibiotics and she agreed.

She said the next test will be the fecal occult blood test in 2 weeks, and we'll go from there to decide on the next testing.

J.D. had 20mls of a mixture of 1 large heaping regular eating teaspoon of IAMS Maximum Calorie mixed with 1 can of Fancy Feast Beef & Chicken Pate at 6:00pm (insulin shot time). He got 1/4 Pepcid and 1/2 Ondansetron, and 250mcg of methyl B12 with 1/10th capsule of Jarrows B-right and 1 Baytril, at shot time. I left 1 can of medium carb Fancy Feast Medleys out for the cats to eat while I went to a Homeowners Owners Association Meeting until 8:00pm, and it was basically cleaned up by the time I got home (but I don't know how much J.D. at of it). I gave J.D. another 20ml of the mixture when I got home and had to give him a bath because something smelled bad!, and it was him. Something smelled bad like urine on the couch and I smelled the couch and it was fine. He had (I guess) been laying on the carpet where he peed.

Now, he's making chirping noises. I don't know why. He seems agitated.

What should I do? He keeps walking around the house. He was in the bedroom and looking at me and making these noises. I closed the bedroom door and keep wanting to go in there. I think he might need to go to the ER, because he is acting weird.

oh dyana, i don't know. i guess i'd call the vet and just ask. please let us know what they say.

sending my best to you and JD. :YMHUG:

Re: 07/24 J.D. PMPS 269 acting weird

How about calling the ER and see if you can speak with a vet to give the history and see if you should bring him in? If you are lucky and they aren't real busy when you call you might get an answer. Hugs and feel better vines.

Re: 07/24 J.D. PMPS 269 acting weird

He's acting kind of fine, but I want to bring him in just for peace of mind.

I checked his ketones earlier (like a half hour ago and they were fine). He kind of acts like he needs to go to the bathroom. There was perfect prezzies from him when I got home. He did just go in the litter box and only went a quarter sized spot on the pee pad (he tends to get inside the litter box and pee outside the litter box on the pee pad).

He hasn't chirped in like 10 minutes now, but it's just weird, and I think I should go or something.

Maybe he's allergic to something or something.

He just ate some cat treats.

I weighed him and he was 10lbs 10oz this morning and 10lbs 7oz this evening. That's kind of low for him.

Okay, I'm going.

Re: 07/24 J.D. PMPS 269 acting weird

Sending healing vines to you and JD, hope they can do something for him at the vet. FWIW, I would have taken him too, I don't know about the chirping sounds, but if nothing else but to ease your mind if he seems agitated and inappropriate elimination. hugs.

{{{Dyana}

Sending healing vines and many prayers that the vet finds a simple explanation for J.D.'s "weird" behavior. I'll be watching for your update. HUGS!!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

The vet said he is in pretty good shape for his age. Temperature was 99, no palpable pain, no heart murmur, no galloping heart beat, heart rate was 180 (his last heart rate was 140, but that was at his normal vet where he gets the good blood pressure results). Vet said she could give me some buprenorphine to give him just at night so he could sleep better, and I said I have it at home, but have not been giving it to him recently. She repeated to give it to him just at night to help him sleep.

I had ran out the door with J.D. in his carrier, and ran back in the house for his glucometer and a can of MC.
He was 150 at the vet's office, and I asked for a bowl and a plastic spoon at the vet and J.D. ate bites of MC while we waited.

I asked if there was any possibility that they might have some IAMS Maximum Calorie and they said they would check. They found two cans, and offered to go look in there storage for more. I said that two cans would last me until Monday I think (when hopefully, our order will come in). She said I could set up an appointment with their Internal Medicine Doctor to help with J.D.'s issues, so we have an appointment for August 4th.

That's about all. J.D. ate some of the MC in a bowl we when got home. I gave him some bupe, and he went to bed, and I am following in his footsteps.

Glad y'all are both home and all seems well for the evening. Sleep well, Dyana and give that boy some scritches from me. cat_pet_icon

I too am happy that JD is OK tonight. I hope the IM vetty provides some insight into what can help him. :YMHUG: More vines headed your way.

I'm glad the vet didn't find anything wrong. It's great that he ate some, even at the vet's, under stressful conditions, and that they had some Max Cal to tide you over.

Sending lots of healing vines, appy vines and prayers. I hope you get some helpful info from the IM vet next week.

Sleep tight. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
