I took the temporary dose increase off this morning.

J.D. was fine and happy and eating all kinds of food yesterday during the day.
At PMPS he ate about 1/2 can of MC and that was it for the night.
He had a wetish poo at +3 and I gave him some Flagyl.
I ended up syringe feeding 10ml MaxCal at +4.75 and 20ml MaxCal at +6.

This morning, he seems brighter, and we went out for a quick walk, but he has only eaten a few bites so far.

BTB for me. J.D. already went there.

He's not eating, but seems okay, for him. He licks a bit of food. He ate maybe 1/4 can hungrily of MC FF Medleys early this morning. I have been syringe feeding him today. Three 10ml syringes of MaxCal, so far.

I joined the Yahoo Anemia Group, but I don't know if my message went through :( I posted this morning, and I still don't see my message listed in the Messages. I guess I have to be patient. I was hoping to copy and paste a bunch of it to post my first message on the Feline Assisted Feeding group, which I still haven't posted to.

We have had a couple of short walks this morning. J.D. had some time out on the deck, and is now laying in the bathroom as I had to close the doors and turn the air conditioning on.

I need advise on what to do if he is in a not eating mood, when I have to go to work. Skip, I guess. And syringe a bunch of food, and go to work.

I hope J.D. starts eating more on his own. With Trix, I had to syringe feed her for over a month, and as a bean , I have to say it did give me some comfort knowing I was able to get calories in her, even though it wasn't ideal circumstances (she ate some on her own, but for the most part I was doing two 10-12ml syringes in the morning and two in the evening). I hope your post shows up soon, so you can get some info from the folks who really know a lot about this stuff.

What did you syringe, Amy? I am using IAMS Maximum Calorie. J.D.'s Acupuncture vet said I could also use Royal Canin Recovery, but I think the IAMS is less carbs.

I did get a reply, congratulating me on a healthy cat and not anemic. I am just trying to keep him from being anemic.

I just missed his +8. I better go test.

And, sometime today, I need to get some housework done.

I was syringing Purina One Classic Chicken Pate. I needed/wanted to keep it as LC as possible since I was trying to keep insulin out of the mix. It really helped boost her natural appy overall. Are you mixing a lot of water in when you puree it? That was one thing my vet cautioned me about - to NOT mix in too much water, because that diultes the calories. When I mix a can (it's the same size as Fancy Feast), I put in a tablespoon of water at the most - just enough to loosen it up a little.

Maximum Calorie is pretty thin from the can and smells like cat poo, if you ask me. Just a sprinkling of water is all it takes. And if it's been in the refrigerator, 11 seconds in the microwave also thins it while warming it a bit.

He ate a bunch of cat treats just fine after his +8.5 test. He licked at some Fancy Feast, and he ate a piece of a scallop and a tiny shrimp from my fish salad, and he ate maybe 2 EVO kibbles, and then went back to my bedroom to sleep.

Last night, he wouldn't have eaten that much, so today is better. I just want so much more. I am ... messed up.

I'm the same way...when it comes to an inappetent kitty, no matter how much they eat when they do eat, it's still never enough for me (even if it reaill IS enough) :roll: ....

Yeah, I know what you mean. He gained a couple of ounces yesterday. It's just the 48 last night and him not eating at all that scares me like craZy.
I hope he eats regularly real soon..Knock On Wood.
 
It was suggested to me on one of the other boards I just joined to try upping his ondansetron to 2mg twice a day, since he approaches food bowls as if interested, and then walks past them. So, two 1/4 pills have been given.

Wish us luck..Crossed Fingers, and all that.

I am reaching out for help.

J.D. doesn't seem too bad, he just needs to eat.

I'm off to go have a beer (maybe two) with my neighbor.
