Hello all! My cat, Gatsby, was diagnosed on June 15th this year and immidiately referred to an animal hospital for ketoacidosis. He seems to have deleveloped diatbetes quickly since he had a check up at the end of February 2026 and nothing showed up on his test results then. Now that he is home my biggest concern is him eating. For the first few days he was eating about half a can of food when fed but last night and today he is just taking a few licks of high his favorite treats and nothing else.

Foodwise, he has been on WellnessCore chicken and turkey canned food once a day and their dry food until his diagnosisl. He doesn't really like pate canned foods so trying to find a better food for him has been a challenge and I would love any recommendations.

At this point, I am just scared because I don't know what to do about his lack of appetite and his glucose levels have shot up last night in to today.

The vet was surprised with the diabetes diagnosis. I had brought him in because he had stopped eating most foods and she thought it was pancreatitis. I do think he likely also has that which probably does play into his lack of appetite. He has two appetite stimulents that don't seem to be doing much. His primary vet gave him cerenia and the hospital vet also prescribed mirataz but they don't seem to be doing much.
