Thanks, Stacy! Will any coconut oil do, or does it have to be a specific type? I have never used it before.I've never used miralax but I have used pumpkin or coconut oil. I gave Asia around a tsp of coconut oil and it seemed to help the same day. Pumpkin I feel is more of a maintenance solution rather than a one time fix. I've also heard pumpkin can bulk the stools too much, though it hasn't been a problem here. Lots of people give miralax though, hope someone chimes in soon.

Poor , sweet Squallie

Praying Big poopy prayers for him tonight
Thank you all for your wonderful advice. Unfortunately, he got no meds, butter, oils, etc tonight because I ended up in the ER and my son fed the cats. He also didn’t get his PM shot because he was only at 88 and no one would be there to keep an eye on him. I will probably be calling the vet in the morning (provided the hospital lets me go!); I won’t have any way of knowing if he’s “gone” or not.

Yuck ! ER waiting is the WORSTStill in the ER - waiting interminably - but will update when able. Thank you all for your well-wishes.
Never a dull moment, lol.

Thanks, Barbara! It's always so good to hear from you!Welcome home, my fingers are crossed too that you won't have to go back anytime soon
Oh, I forgot to mention how much I love Squallie's new (to me) picture, SO CUTE!
Just a friendly reminder to make sure you give Squallie extra water when you start using the Miralax tomorrow![]()

Good Wednesday morning , Lucy
Praying you wake to a pooping Squallie
( loved the Dr Who reference
) and prayers that you are fully healed and strong . And of course after the ER you had presence of mind to go shopping for Squallie
You are amazing , Lucy

Lol, I'd love a Dr. Who 2nd heart! Actually, I'd love just a Dr. Who, as long as it was David Tennant, lol!Ums. Not being nosey. Not being extra flipping well noseholes or anything. Not being a nosey parker or anything. Not being really mega naughty intrusive or anything.
BUT . I've been in suspense for hours here.
Did you lose you feet and ankles ? An eye? A Dr Who 2nd heart? Blood? Gore? Eyebrow?
I do live in NZ y'know.
Things can be.........................................................................................................................................quiet.

Thanks, Bobbie.Oh Lucy! I am glad you got control of your heart! And poop vines for Sqallie Bear.
How are you dealing with the FORLS? If I remember correctly Squallie isn't a candidate for sedation. How are you keeping him in such good numbers?
The vet Bubba saw on Monday did not think he needed an AB, but seeing how his numbers escalated, I am sure he did. This RL was the worst! I am so glad that Squallie is holding his own with the problem. I never realized that only a % of kitties are prone to these lesions. Lucky our boys, eh? Were you told of anything you would do that could help besides brushing his teeth? This time, I will brush them more often even through he fights me so.Thanks, Bobbie.
Yes, he does have FORLS, and is not a candidate for sedation. We have just been really lucky that he hasn't had any real problems from it. He has lost one canine to it, and has visible lesions on at least three other teeth. One of them seemed irritated so he's doing a course of ABs right now to keep any infection at bay. So, I guess the plan of action is just to keep away any infection, and treat any associated pain, although he hasn't had any real pain from them, yet, as far as I can determine.
Squallie hates anything in his mouth so brushing is almost impossible. I also figure it must hurt when the brush hits those lesions! I use a powder that I sprinkle over his food, and an additive to his water; they do seem to help some. The vet Bubba saw on Monday did not think he needed an AB, but seeing how his numbers escalated, I am sure he did. They don't seem to have hurt Squallie's kidneys, but definitely check it out with your vet first! I really do think it has helped Squallie.I’m going to check these products out for Elmo . Wonder if they can be used with aging kidneys that we deal with too ? With all 3 of mine they get COQ10 3x a week and coconut oil “brushed” ( more like “ placed” ) daily on their gums /teeth . My civvie has lost all but one molar to this so I feel your pain. At 15 our civvies can still have dentals but I do all as preventative .

Thanks for these links! I will order some for Bubba. Obviously, Squallie doesn't detect it in the food. Thanks Lucy!Squallie hates anything in his mouth so brushing is almost impossible.
