Reduced to 1.25u.

Bent needle inside this morning, so numbers may be high.

Also Clyde gets seasonal allergies, and he goes outdoors. Historically we’ve given him viralys l-lysine. I took a look at it last night and it shows there is added sweetener in it. I gave him some this morning to see if it helps his eyes and itching, but wondering if anyone has a low carb suggestion? I’m guessing just the human pills?

Congrats on the reduction! :)

A bunch if people here have used L-Lysine. Let me tag a few to see if they can help:

@Suzanne & Darcy
@Katherine&Ruby
@Lando demando
@carfurby
@Pamela & Amethyst
Not sure if it will bump him up but it also isn’t used as much in recent years and the vets say it doesn’t work. It can’t hurt to try it though. I’ve used 1/4 a zyrtec allergy regular strength with some success for Mocha who has skin allergies. It dues act like an appetite stimulant though.

This is good confirmation! I read an article that cited a study saying it doesn’t work, so I was curious! I still have a decent amount in the tube, so I might try it for a few weeks and see how it goes. His allergies don’t seem to be bothering him too much.

I've use l-lysine on my crew. I just used a human one, usually the ones labelled veggie caps, half a cap at a time (500mg capsules). Just check the ingredients. You can also get the powder. My vet suggested it, and I think it helps.

Sorry clyde isnt feeling well :( yes i had a ton of respiratory business with Lando but ended up taking l-lysene out of the mix. I ended up going the humidifier route instead. Good luck and well wishes

I use L-lysine in several of my cats. It does work! But what I use it for is the perpetual runny/weepy/goopy eyes. It helps with that a lot. I use it in the food of several feral cats as well who have eye problems - it helps them a lot. So I don’t use it for sneezing and can’t speak to its efficacy for that. I use Viralys powder in food - once a day. So I have never tried any other brands and I don’t know if they work.

I am looking at my tub of Viralys and it has nothing that I recognize as a sweetener. Ingredients are: L-lysine hydrochloride 500 mg, Brewer’s dried yeast, hydrolyzed fish, hydrolyzed poultry liver, mixed tocopherals as a preservative (this would be different forms of Vitamin E), sodium acid purophosphate, sodium sulfate.
