Hi everyone- I’m new here, but have been on this journey with our Tobi for about 4 years now. He was originally on Prozinc and everything has been managed well up until about 6 weeks ago. He was showing symptoms of low appetite and being lethargic. He had a history of issues with he’s teeth so we took him in and he needed to have 3 teeth pulled. He underwent the procedure and everything was fine- up until he still wasn't eating the same. They ran his numbers to discover that his numbers were incredibly low and in the 40s. He was instantly removed from the insulin and within days his numbers had spiked and was in the 500s. We got a referral to an internal medicine specialist and he now has the Libre sensor that reads his numbers every 15 minutes and they put him on 1 unit of Lantus in the morning and at night. Originally it looked like he was improving but when we started the new medication he seemed to have lost his appetite again. We put him back on an anti nausea and appetite stimulant and he’s eating okay-ish but he’s still losing weight. We’re at a lost of what to do next and it feels like our internal specialist is going to slow for what next steps should be. Any insight to this new insulin or suggestions for what we can do would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Stephanie - Tobi is adorable. Welcome to FDMB. Congrats on treating Tobi for 4 years! My Cleo also switched from Prozinc to Lantus. We would like to see some data before offering opinions/advice.
