Little dude wanted to scare me with that low AMPS this morning! I gritted my teeth and gave him the 0.1 dose. Gave some of the Weruvia Steak Frites today for lunch which is 5% to encourage him up a bit. It seems to have floated him up through the nadir time.

I must say he does seem to be hungrier now that he's consistently getting the 5am snack. I'm not sure why that is. It's like he's thinking that those calories don't count. Every day is a battle of wills here with the food. Him sitting in front of that empty plate way too often. He waits for more as soon as he finishes up a serving.

Good job shooting low. Look at two days of green amps. What you are doing is working. :D

Thank you Elise! Yes, he's consistently eating that 5am snack now!
Unfortunately my 5am test is still high. I'm sure he'd love to get another snack at 2am to get the 5am down but my little guy needs to shed the pounds too!

I meant to get back last night and tell you his video just affected me so deeply. That poor boy....he must have felt so terrible and what you’ve done for him is just exceptional and extraordinary.

You did so great today shooting! Our Buddy boy might be thinking of a reduction??? Paws crossed!

Thank you so much for the kind words Marje.
It was very difficult to see him suffer through the years without being able to do much for him. We tried many times with a cat trap but he wouldn't go in. I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend building trust with him last year. The one positive thing with the pandemic was that I could work from home and spend time just hanging out with Buddy.

Wow, what a great day you and Buddy are having! Love that Buddy is eating Steak Frites. I have to remind myself that it's cat food and not a rib eye with French fries. :p

Such a wonderful, happy story.

Beautiful Buddy :cat: How's the auto-feeder going (or are you still the auto feeder :))?

The auto-feeder is in the bedroom so it wakes me up. Damn, that thing is loud! Then I try to grab a quick test if I can. And then he will jump down with me to eat. So right now I'm still getting up with him at 5am. Then we go to the kitchen for a litter box visit, and I go back to bed to try and catch a few winks before the AMPS test, food and shot. Buddy however does not seem to want to come back to bed. He only returns to wake me up for more food around 7.
I've been using the Sheba pate for the past few days and that seems to work best. Any shredded meat stuff gets a bit dried out and then he's not as interested. But that may also be that he wasn't expecting food at that time. That's changing quickly now :p

:joyful::joyful::joyful: Never a truer statement lol.

Not sure which auto-feeder you have but if it doesn't have ice packs, you can freeze cat food in an ice cube tray and put the cubes in the feeder so when it's time to eat the food is defrosted (idk how long this takes...but the idea is the food is a little fresher - just a thought). Paws crossed Buddy becomes independent with the auto feeder though sounds like he likes your company ;)

I just saw the video you made. I’m in awe of you!

Aw thanks Elise! But believe me the diabetes dance actually requires a lot more patience than befriending a feral.
There are no breaks and no days off with insulin in play

I'll definitely keep that in mind! I imagine freezing will be essential come summer.
It's the PetSafe 5 btw.

With a little luck and patience, I think it will be behind you soon. (Anti-jinx)
