I want to make sure I understand what it means to help him glide down to green numbers easily .
Basically, you use the food and timing of it strategically when you see him dropping numbers quickly. What I mean is this: right now, Leo is dropping a LOT between the times you are testing him. Today he went from like 250 at PS to 75 at +3 and you didn’t know what happened in between and were probably shocked to see the green +3.
If you are home, it would be really useful to start a +2 reading also because we need to see what he is doing between the tests you’re currently getting when he drops a lot. That will help you know how fast he is dropping and if you’re needing to feed him and when . If a cat drops any more about 50 points in an hour, that’s a fast drop - and fast drops tend to trigger bounces. We want his body to feel happy and stable staying in the blues and greens, not confused and scared by the huge ups and downs.
So we use food to help his body learn that the blues and greens are good numbers and he can stay there.
By the time a kitty has dropped a hundred or two hundred points without the care giver knowing and assisting with some LC food when the drop becomes evident at about 50 point's, it’s likely a bounce reaction may already be triggered.
Does this make sense? If you take a peek at Pearls spreadsheet from early 2021, you will see how I was giving food when she was dropping, to help ease her body down there with food supporting her. That is a really good thing to learn how to do for your cat. It does involve getting some more tests because right now we just see these huge jumps with Leo and we don’t know what is happening in between.
Also, in general when you get a big drop, you need to test again that cycle because you don’t know how low he is going. And also once you start seeing green in a cycle, you need to test again because you need to make sure he is in safe green numbers and not sliding low. In time you will see if Leo has his low numbers at the start middle or end of cycle in general and will have a better grasp on what to expect.
Does this help? Please feel free to ask questions. Every cat is different and has their own journey and combination of what works, but this is some good general rules of the road from my journey
