I didn't give Molly a shot last night. I can't monitor where I get up so early. I am getting trained today at work today!
Tomorrow is Molly's vet visit for a wellness exam. I hope I can go in the room with her. DH wants me to cancel the appointment. But I think she needs this, she hasn't had an exam for a couple years. I also worry taking her. I'll be stressed tomorrow and she will be too.

:bighug::bighug::bighug: I really think you are right to take her for a checkup. She needs to be in fine form for the upcoming camping adventures! Right? I do hope that they will let you in. I’m starting to get really disgusted with my vet for not letting clients in with their animals. It’s been nearly two years now! I’m over it! Everything we do in life has some risk attached to it. I may switch to a different vet for some general things because there are other vets around who have been letting clients inside for a long time now.

I hope your training goes well. What’s the training for?
 
Oh… while I was off on my (almost) rant, I forgot to say that you should make a list to send in with Molly in case they won’t let you inside. Write down what you want them to do and any concerns that you may have. Even if they let you in, the list will help you to remember to ask any questions that you have been pondering. Remember…. She doesn’t need a fructosamine test! (Not with all the data you have!). You don’t need to waste money on that one.

I requested this vet. He's seen Molly since she's been a kitten. He's pretty good I just hope I can be with her. He knows how stressed she gets. My main concern is her constipation and travelling. Everything else is good with her. I sent him the spreadsheet a couple weeks ago. I'm over it too I really think they should like their clients in with their pets. Especially Molly where she gets so stressed. Good thing the drive there is only a 10 minutes.

I'm being trained to input tickets. I do tickets now but this company is specific on how they want them posted.

Is there anything else I should mention to the vet? Thanks for your help Suzanne I appreciate it. I gets just as stressed as Molly going to the vet. She probably knows that.
 
Just the bloodwork that he’s probably going to recommend anyway. I will be interested to hear what he says about the constipation. Are you giving Miralax? And, of course, the stress during travel, which was your primary concern. You’ve got this under control.

I am taking a cat to the vet this afternoon and she’s kindof semi-feral (luckily sweet though and not a fighter or biter but she gets soooo frightened being taken away from her house.). They probably won’t let me inside!

What are tickets? Is that payroll for the company? Or is it the recording of hours worked so that everyone will be paid correctly?

Urine test too? will they do? He blindfolds her for that poor Molly :(. Once Molly goes through those vet doors her meows are worse. I give her Clearlax which is the same as Miralax. What Can the give her for constipation? anything? or continue with what I'm doing? Sometimes she skips a day pooping, is that normal? I try to keep a record of it now on the spreadsheet.

I fed a semi feral cat all spring/summer/ fall beautiful cat I named him Ozzy. SPCA and I tried to catch him. They finally caught him in the fall of last year. He wasn't neutered and bad matted fur. I went to see him before he got adopted. I'll post a pic of him.

Yes, correct tickets for payroll and so that we'll get paid for the job that was done. I work for a oil patch company!

What a beautiful boy!

I remember that you work for an oil patch company. Is this a new one?

This kitty’s name is Esther and she was supposed to be adopted as well, but the Atlanta Humane Society said they’d take her and then they told me they planned to amputate her right front leg. I said no way and took her back home and here she is and we love her lots. She’s good with us and she loves her sister that we also took back because they’re so bonded. She had a broken leg that healed incorrectly so she has a bit of a limp, that’s all. She gets around just fine and plays and climbs her big cat tree.
Anyway…. If I had to take Molly all the way to the vet for a blood draw, I would go ahead with a urinalysis too just to get it all done at one time and hopefully not have to go back for a long time!

The company has been in busy for 16 years, But I started working for them last July. My previous job wasn't busy and the travel up the highway each day was too much. Especially where I go home for lunch each day for Molly. This current job is busy and I'm appreciated and it's only a 5 min drive to work.

Poor baby. Tyler will skip a day when pooping.
Have you tried Lactulose? I see some members use that :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

Tyler doesn't poop everyday either? Mom and dad's cat Sissy skips a day too. Can you buy Lactulose at the drugstore?

Yes, you do need a prescription for Lactulose. It's liquid and gets mixed into food. Some cats don't like the taste of it, whereas Miralax has no taste and can work basically the same way. Skipping a day is ok, but if it gets to 4 or 5 days then that gets worrisome. By your notes on her SS, I wouldn't change anything you're doing.

Lactulose is available through compounding pharmacies (with a vet Rx). They make it into a flavored liquid (I got chicken). It is technically a type of sugar, but it is not absorbed by the cat's body and therefore does not influence blood sugar. Quite a few people on this board use it for kitty constipation. My vet was very hesitant to prescribe it at first because she thought it would disturb his blood sugar. It did not. I wish we had started it earlier though. It seems to have a good taste. I put it in food and never had any problems with eating - that is good because it can be kind of sticky if you just syringe it in.

Lactulose is a synthetic non-digestible disaccharide which is used to treat hepatic encephalopathy (HE) and chronic constipation in dogs and cats. Oral lactulose is very poorly absorbed and the majority of the drug remains in the colon where it is metabolized by the resident bacterial flora into short chain fatty acids. These short chain fatty acids acidify the colon contents and draw water and ammonia (NH3) from the blood into the colon. The net effect is to soften the stool and reduce blood ammonia levels by trapping and expelling ammonium ion in the feces.

Adrienne you might have a compounding pharmacy where you live if you ever want to try it, the one Suzanne mentioned is in N.J. Looking at your notes on your SS Molly does poop often, are you not happy with the miralax?

Hair in poop is a good thing. It’s puking up hairballs all the time that is a bad sign. It means there are motility issues with the GI tract. If hair is coming out through the back end, Tyler is doing really well and may not need the Miralax. I didn't know that , thanks for the link I will read it now, I started giving the miralax to him because the poop seemed really hard and dry. Of course I had to break a piece in half to see the hair in it, I know that sounds gross lol

He doesn't drink water out of his bowl. but I put a lot of water in his food every time
Maybe I'll stop the miralax for awhile and see how he goes
With the miralax his poop is nice and soft

I understand now! Yeah, soft is much better than hard. Lots of people use the powdered egg yolk thing as mentioned in that link. The fat leads to softer and more easily passable poops, plus it is very nutritious, whereas Miralax is not.
