Hi, Clarence was getting 1.5 units of Lantus and on 1/24 I increased him to 1.75. The first day of the increase he had some nice blues and then a pretty large bounce. He's been a bouncy kitty for sure in the past.
I hoped switching from Vetsulin to Lantus would maybe help with the bouncing.
This morning he surprised me with an AMPS of 147. I tried to stall to see if it would go above 150 but it didn't and I went ahead and fed him and gave him his dose of 1.75 (I don't like him not getting any) and knowing that I could monitor him today and figuring I would get an idea of when I can and can't give him insulin.
Well, he had another nice run of blue and the last time I tested at +8.4 he was at 101 and acting hungry. I gave a small amount of food hoping it might bring him up a tiny bit so he wouldn't have a huge bounce from these lower numbers.
Now I'm hoping his PMPS isn't gonna be even lower than his AMPS. Any ideas of what to do if his PMPS is lower that the AMPS? I'm not sure how much monitoring I'll be able to do tonight (I take meds that make it hard to wake up in the night).
I would appreciate any thoughts on how to best handle this. His PMPS is coming up rather quickly.
Thanks from me and Clarence for any help!
