I wasn't expecting to see the pink after last nights blue - oh well. Bayley is good this morning. Asking for breakfast as usual. She vomitted in the night - just the once and actually seemed to feel fine - was asking for more food right afterwards so I am not too concerned - maybe just a bit of a hairball cough or something ....

Hi Leslie,
I just noticed ur in Ontario, close to London right? I grew up there, small town got big now I hear.

U might wanna note the pukey in ur SS comments - sometimes that brings BG up or down, or whatever cats decide to do with it

have a good day :)

Re: 01/19 bayley - question about test results...

I haven't spoken with vet - they are closed but got a message that IAA was normal and that somatomedin (? - just going by voice mail message) is a "bit high"...... does this mean my huge fear is realized and my baby has a tumor...??? Starting to have a bit of watery eyes because I am pretty sure it does but a bit afraid of the answer which is why I have not yet just googled it ..... scared a bit. I know she is wonderful no matter what - I just still have dreams of years with my little kitten heart and I will even accept no possibleOTJ to have that..

All positive thoughts your way for you and Bayley. Try not to anticipate till you hear from someone here with more experience of talk to the vet. (((Leslie Bayley)))

((((Leslie))))

Try not to worry until you get more information, ok? I sent a note to Jojo to stop by when she can. Try to get the results tomorrow, but it's great that IAA is normal and "a bit high" doesn't sound too ominous at this point. Sending hugs......

I think the test results indicate Bayley may have Acromegaly. She is a high dose kitty and usaually that is a red flag for Acromegaly or IAA.

Take Care,
Sandy Dottie & Skippy

((((Leslie)))). Take a deep breath and wipe your tears tonight. Go gather up Bayley and give her lots of squishes and smooches and love and think positive, happy thoughts. I believe that the results may have something to do with Bayley being an acrocat, this is something that you can work with. Keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers tonight.

((((Leslie)))) I am getting positive feelings about this. I think you will have lots of years with Bayley.
But, give her lots of love anyway ...big smile... she deserves it.

Hi Leslie,
That is an unusual message to receive. I don't know why he would say they are a little high, anything over the max number is considered positive, anything less is a questionable or negative result, and I wish for your sake the message would have clearly stated one or the other.

(((((hugs))))) I know you're scared and I want you to know that it is possible to live years as an acro with proper treatment from the owner. You are already doing that, and Bayley does have a chance at a very good life. I have an acro (Leo, who's in the picture) who is super happy, over a year after diagnosis. He's well managed on insulin and medications and he returns that attention with lots of love and gratitude. It's shocking to get the news, even if you're half-expecting it, but soon that shock fades. I promise. :)

I am going to put out a call in the morning to some of the other acro moms and let them know to come over to your tomorrow condo and say hello. They are all wonderful ladies (and two gentlemen!) and make a terrific group of friends. :)

Leslie -

Somatomedin is also called insulin-related growth factor. Any test result and/or diagnosis is difficult when you first hear it. I'm sure finding out that Bayley had FD was a shock -- and look at how well you and Bayley are doing! Learn everything you can so you know your options and you know that the community here will do whatever we can to provide you with all of the support you could want or need.

while this news may be a shock, bayley is still bayley. she just wants all your love and attention... all the things you've been doing for her all along.
sending a big hug across the miles...

((((Leslie))))

Sending you many positive vines. If she is Acro, she is still herself and you can have many, many happy years with her. Plus, there is not a better group of people I can think of than the HD group here. The love and support they show one another is pretty incredible.

For now just give Bayley lots of loving and don't look past today. Cross whatever bridge you need to when you come to it.

(((Leslie and Bayley))) remember Bayley doesn't care what the test results say. She is still the same sweet girl she's always been, and thats never going to change. The results just answer the question of why she's so thirsty. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
