01/17 Walter AMPS 373 PMPS 67. Update from ER

I was trying my best to make some sense out of what was going on with the stiff legs . . .and head down. I have no idea. Low BG can have odd side effects at times, but that is unusual (?) He's been so high, he could have felt low and poorly. Or it could be unrelated to BG.

Feel better Walter, and let us know Zelda.

Thanks for your good thoughts. The ER (Blue Pearl) confirmed that Walter’s BG and ketones were fine. All the other basics checked out as well. He’s still walking funny. He’s hiding in the closet ( and is quiet). When he walks around —he howls. I think he’s hurting somewhere but the ER couldn’t confirm anything. I’ll see how the night goes and take him to my regular vet tomorrow. I called him from the ER—he thought that it could be high BP but that checked out ok. Bizarre. Gave him his regular insulin shot when we returned from the vet.
sigh.

Okay good. I was worried he threw a clot or something :nailbiting: I'm glad he's stable but sorry he isn't his usual self.

Hugs for Walter!

I hope that he has been urinating okay?! Sometimes they can develop crystals which is like sand in a hose. The howling is usually seen when their belly/abdomen is pressed on. I am assuming that the ER vets must have ruled that out though. Has been pooping without an issue as well? Sometimes constipation can create discomfort. No trauma to the spine or pelvis, correct?

I also thought that it might be constipation but they didn’t think that was the case. They also pressed on the abdomen. To be honest, I was somewhat skeptical about what they were saying and doing. Now he hasn’t eaten for several hours and unfortunately I had given him insulin when we got home. He’s also drinking very little. Still acting weird.

Walter sure keeps you on your toes! Here is a link about neuropathy. http://www.felinediabetes.com/weak-back-rear-legs.htm

An experienced member posted this Youtube video of a kitty with diabetic neuropathy.
Thank you! I still can’t figure out if that’s what he has — he keeps lying down next to the water and the food dishes dishes but doesn’t eat/drink anything. When I think about it he has been lying down more over the past few days.

I'm sorry I wasn't around yesterday...poor Walter. I hope he's doing better this morning. Very unusual symptoms....

Hi Zelda, how is Walter doing?
Well—still not eating (except for a very little late last night from my hand) and he’s drinking very little. When I took his AMPS; I thought it was 34 but took again and it was 155 ( had given him very very little honey at the 34 and then immediately took the next test – I think 34 was a problem with the meter). He’s alert (never wasn’t) but the body movement is status quo.
