Copernicus is stage 3 CKD in a matter of a month. Not sure if it's just acro progression or Convenia injection or Adequan. He has an enlarged kidney. Convenia and Adequan were new things in the last month. Europe has a warning not to use Convenia in diabetics with renal disease, but US does it all the time.

His BG on IV fluids is good. They always look better on fluids. So that's what I am fighting at home. I add water to his food and we were doing 50 mLs of subq EOD, but still not enough to prevent dehydration. They heard a murmur again, so I still need to be careful with fluids. So that's why his BG shoots back up after a while of being home.

The one thing I didn't like that I heard was he's anxious and grumpy. I know they are pulling on his arm to get to his catheter, so I am super worried about his carpal hyper extension and ligaments. The rehab doc said if they get stretched they don't repair from that.

As for Hemingway, I am moving forward with a liver needle biopsy. His thyroid was elevated on only 1 of the 4 labs, so hyperthyroid inconclusive but they want to start thyroid meds anyway. Hmmm. No pancreatitis either. So why are ALL his liver enzymes climbing? One thing of note is that his homemade vitamins were reformulated for increased bioavailability but I'm told it probably is not that.
