? Fur mussed up & falling out at base of tail, but no fleas

I have two diff long hair cats that in the past week have the fur at the base of their tail looking weird (sticking up, starting to knot, fur falling out). I checked for fleas & could not find any. They are indoor only.

The diabetic one had higher than usual BG last couple of days.

What could this be?

I took them to get groomed/shaved down/bath; double-checked for fleas. Still none so it's still a mystery. Have not seen them scratching or anything since the shave, though, so it might've just been dry skin.

I did see clotted blood in stool once & some diarrhea but don't know which cat it is. If it is any type of parasite, is the medication the same? I used to do rescues + the place I took them to would always use the same dewormer for all of them. I ask because my vet always wants to run a million tests, costing way too much. + that's before the cost of the treatment. It's made me apprehensive about going.
 
Since you were in rescue, I'm sure you know how to look for the various types of worms. Ugh, part of my past too. Maybe time for a fecal test? Might not need to take the cats in if you can just drop off a sample.

i just did Tnr, so i don't know how to look for the various types of worms. how do u do that?
 
There are internet sites with pictures of worms on them. Some show up on the feces, some as little rice looking things from the rear end, and where they site.

And yes, you could just deworm all of them. That's what we did at the shelter, assuming there's be transmission at some point.
