Hi hi

Pip stopped eating on Thursday afternoon, i brought him to the vet and spent all my money and even borrowed some for tests and his potassium was really low, bad ear infection, and i need to do xrays for his breathing.

He started eating again but is making weird pain and or breathing noises.

Vet said to stop insulin for an extra day, then start at 1.5, but he is still super high.
Sorry i'm at school i dont have this mornings numbers.

I made a gofundme and I am wondering if it's ok to post it. I'm sorry I've been posting a lot less I've been dealing with school and depression and having a hard time.

I'll be home in a few hours to update my spreadsheet.

Thank you have a great day and safe surfing 🏄‍♂️ ❤️

I’m concerned the vet cut back his insulin with no basis for doing so that I can see unless it has to do with his potassium. While insulin “can” increase the uptake of potassium in the cells, it’s not normally enough to cause an issue.

The 3.25u dose was working well for him and if we had a few nighttime tests on the pm cycles with no testing, we might find he even has room for a dose increase. But your vet has done a “rebound check” probably without even knowing it and he/she is putting Pip at high risk for higher BGs as you can already see. It worries me.

Keeping your buddy in my thoughts.

I agree, we are going back to 2 units and will go back up progressively... i think she was mostly afraid he would completely stop eating again and or puke, and is worried about his potassium levels being so low.

I got the go ahead and posted in the fundraising forum ❤️

Pip ate some dinner and got his shot, time for the fluids and ear drops.
Glad you posted! I hope you raise lots of $$ for your sweet boy 😻
Good luck with fluids and ear drops. Keep eating Pip ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

I’d fast track him back up. You can do the following:
2u bid for four cycles
If BGs are still high yellow/pink or above, raise to 2.5u bid for four cycles.
Give him six cycles to let the depot fill and see where he is. You can tag me at any time and I’ll help you with the dose.

Feel better, sweet Pip.

Is your vet giving him cerenia and ondansetron to control nausea and vomiting? They can be used together as they address those issues from different modalities.

Yes cerania and ondansetron plus ear meds and subucatanous fluids with potassium

About to give him the fluids now before heading to school

He seems alert but still making pain noises.

I'll post a daily thread when i get home this afternoon.

Have a great day!
