Remember I mentioned, even doing SLGS, we have to be careful about back-to-back reductions so check in before you reduce? 😉

Just leave the dose now at 0.25u and let’s see if he can come back down to better numbers. I’m sorry I don’t remember why you aren’t doing TR? He’s not accessing any dry any more correct? TR would be better because if he doesn’t hold this reduction, we can take the dose back up quickly but with SLGS, he stays at this dose for a week unless he drops below 90.

I was informed by the forum to start with SLGS and not to to TR

Ohhh okay, how would I start TR?
Read the protocol (I know it’s been linked before but you likely just read SLGS), change the SS at the top from SLGS to TR, merge a line between 4/27 and 4/28 and color it red. Type in “switch to TR”. If you need help doing that, let me know know and I can fix it easy although I’m only available tonight until Thursday morning.

Will count today as his first two cycles on TR. He came down nicely so we will watch for a cycle or so and see if he can get into green BGs. Under TR, you will hold the dose longer so he won’t get a reduction unless he drops below 50. That means you will also be shooting lower because we shoot everything 50 and above. I would advise if you get a BG lower than anything you’ve shot, that you stall his meal, and post for help so someone can hang with you. Please don’t try to go it alone.

Be sure you have your hypo kit ready and can monitor. You’ve been doing a great job of that.

TR is more aggressive but it also allows you to increase doses sooner if a dose isn’t working and that’s very important because stagnating at a dose that keeps a cat high isn’t helpful to the kitty.

What do you think?

It says .25units per kg of cats body weight. George is 5.4kg, should I adjust the dose or keep it at .25 for now?

That’s the starting dose. We are well past that now. So just continue with 0.25u for now.

You don’t have to follow TR if it’s too stressful. It’s rally up to you. Just let us know.
