? 3/22 Ember AMPS 340 Reduction amount?

Good morning all. Ember went down to 66 last night for the first time ever, so I did our first reduction this morning. I reduced by .25u, but am wondering if I should have done .5u since I’ve been increasing by .5u? I hope she’s ok. I’m at work today and I’m worried. Hopefully she won’t go low again this morning. Safe surfing, everyone.

Hi Elaine,
Based on my knowledge we only reduce (and increase) by 0.25 so you did it right. Unless you're doing custom dosing? Which I don't think you do. Also as a side note, even if you did reduce by 0.5, the depot is still filled so she would be where she is today regardless. Hopefully she's staying safe while you're at work. Hope this helps.
Happy sunday

Thank you!
I’d been advised to increase in .5 increments since her doses are so high. I just wasn’t sure if that applied to reductions too, since I’ve never had to do one before.
I just sent her an extra meal in the feeder to see if she’d come out to eat so I could see her on the camera, and she made an appearance, so hopefully she’s ok. I’m still worried though.

In that case I'm not sure then. Maybe ask whoever advised you on this, about the reductions as well?

Boy, she worked that dose quickly, didn't she, even though she lost some duration on it.

Great question about the reduction amount. I checked the dosing guidelines, and it just says this: "Caregivers whose kitties have "High Dose" conditions may find the need to reduce in whole units or more." That's not a whole lot of help. @Seth&Bell's Bell is an IAA kitty; he might know the answer to this.

It's SO worrisome when you have to be at work and they are lower or have the potential of going lower. I encounter that with Jude regularly, and when I do, I try to leave him with some MC or HC, depending on the situation.

Hopefully, Ember will remain in safe numbers through this cycle!

A good possibility a bounce will keep her safe today.

Regarding reductions, I would do the 0.5 unit reduction for now, until or unless you find that is too much a change. Safety first when it comes to larger doses.
