Happy Saturday!
For anyone that missed it yesterday, Binx got his labs back and has been officially diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and acromegaly (results in the SS). It's daunting but without a doubt, better to know than not. It was overwhelming yesterday digging into what this could mean, but big thanks to @Staci & Ivy and @Wendy&Neko for putting me at ease by sharing so many resources and first hand experiences. This community means everything
I'm getting a referral to an internist to discuss Binx's assortment of conditions (FD, CKD S2, Hyper-t, Acro) and I really hope we can have that appointment soon, so we can get him on the right path for treating everything, especially his acro. The vet has also ordered medication for his thyroid and as confirmed by Staci, we're starting low, which is good.
Since his hyperthyroidism can mask kidney values, I'm eager to find the right diet that balances carbs and phos. So I'll be introducing another option this weekend - a Weruva flavour (chicken frick a zee) that seems to have both low carb and low pho. I hope it doesn't do the same thing the Tiki Cat did.
Currently, Binx is sleeping on my lap while I type this and I know we're in this together. He's been so resilient (anti-jinx) and I'm hoping this stays true as we tackle what comes next.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend
Hold your babies tight and give them lots of kisses and chin scratches from me!
