Need help with Panzer
He's been having to have fortiflora on all of his meals this past week looking at his spreadsheet. I've come home to puke a couple of days in a row Thursday & again Friday I forgot to look back on the camera on Thursday to see if it was Panzer or Spook. I remembered while taking a shower on Friday came out to puke & Panzer near by. Five minutes later he started puking so I knew then it had to be him! It was fur & chicky & food puke at first then just liquid food. He puked 3xs in between PMPS meal & +6PMPS bedtime meal sleep. I got him to take cerenia & ondanstran @+6 PMPS bedtime feeding last night. He ate a little bit of the food & stopped & puked it & both pills still in the pill pockets up. SEE COMMENTS ON SPREADSHEET FOR MORE ACCURACY TRYING TO GET THIS UP He's refused a tsp of LC that I tried putting different stuff on in comments on spreadsheet. He ended up eating a tsp of MC & a tsp of Gerber baby food & about 10 pieces of chicky for AMPS feeding & I gave cerenia then. He ate 1tsp of MC@+4 AMPS & I gave him ondanstran & to Mirataz . He ate nothing @+7.5 AMPS feeding (lunch) I tested him @+10 & offered him chicky he ate about 10 pieces I noticed him having trouble chewing so I broke it up into smaller pieces.

So puking not eating trouble eating PANCREATITIS TEETH SHOULD I TRY TO SYRINGE FEED PMPS SHOT TIME IN 1HR EASTERN TIME 6PM @Suzanne & Darcy @Bron and Sheba (GA) @Bandit's Mom @Chris & China (GA) @Wendy&Neko
 
He hasn't puked since he kept the 2nd round of cerenia down but he also has not ate much of anything... I've had to put the pill pockets in his mouth & make him swallow them normally he eats them out of my hand & he has drank out of the water bowl 3xs that I've seen
 
If you can syringe feed, I'd go with the usual dose but if that is too scary, how about 2.5? Do you have any fluids? Pain medication?

Have you tried warming up his food? (check it before giving to make sure it's not too hot....microwaves heat unevenly)

I ended up giving him 2.5 I gave him cerenia & ondanstran he ate the pill pockets out of my hand, he started chowing down on the food stopped looked at me & turned around & puked it all up!!!

I'm heading to Walmart to get more syringes even though I've never syringe fed him & a bullet mixer. I have not tried warming the food up & I have yet to try tuna.

I have 3 cerenia left so cut in half that would be 6 cerenia,lots of ondanstran & Mirataz

I have gabapentin capsules but haven't tried giving him any because he hasn't really eaten anything to give it to him in. I don't have fluids I've never given them & of course it's Saturday so no vets open except emergency.

Yes he gets Slippery elm every other night. He had it last on the 8th, he's supposed to be having it tonight @+4 PMPS but he hasn't eaten hardly anything & he just puked everything up at PMPS including the cerenia. I'm getting more syringes & a bullet mixer at Walmart now.

This liquid food is appropriate for cats suffering from conditions where they are eating very little or not at all such as anemias, leukemias, deficiency states with symptoms of lethargy, listlessness, and weakness.

1 cup RAW LIVER (BEEF, or CHICKEN)
1 cup FRESH CARROT JUICE or V-8, or Tomato Juice
1/4 cup *FRESH FILTERED WATER
1 RAW EGG YOLK
1 tsp.KELP POWDER OR SPIRULINA


COMBINE AND MIX IN A BLENDER UNTIL LIQUEFIED. (Note: it will be frothy)

THE '~LIVER SHAKE~' FOR SICK CATS
 
It sounds like he may have a tooth problem. What is his BG now? I see he was yellow at PMPS. I would maybe leave well enough alone and just monitor his BG and give karo if he needs it or won’t snack for you. Do you have any baby food?

I watched one & attempted to syringe feed him 4tsp of LC with my daughter help which made it worse because she was trying to hurry me along so she could leave. He got some of 2tsps.

I tested him as soon as I got home @+3.5 & he was @159 then I gave him cerenia & about 10mins later he puked up flem & chicky but kept the pill pocket down. My dryer went out & the landlord hasn't received the part yet laundry mat closes at 8pm so had to do dry my towels first.

Yes I have there normal baby food & some Gerber ham & Gerber Chicken baby food.
 
100mg of gabapentin is too much was having trouble walking into this morning still. Refused LC @ AMPS feeding gave 2units ate a whole scrambled egg & 2tsp of Gerber chicken baby food with cosequin. Can he eat scrambled eggs all day long???
 
Hey panzer was eating & stopped & started puking again. He didn't puke up the cerenia that he had at +3.5 AMPS. Should I try & syringe feed him some lunch or try giving him a scrambled egg or should I wait until PMPS which is 4hrs from now 6pm Eastern time, it's 2pm now????. He hasn't pooped but 2 little nuggets
 
Don't syringe feed him food that he might otherwise like and eat on his own. Syringe feeding can cause food aversion to that type of food. Not always, but I had a hepatic lipidosis foster kitty go off of chicken completely because of what he was syringe fed.

No just enzymes in general. Will it help to have him on them for the pancreatitis or do they have a funky taste & make them not like the food? I have a post on the cats with pancreatitis group but they said I'm pretty much doing everything they do minus the enzymes fluids & buprenorphine.

I'm calling the vet in the morning to see about getting some more Cerenia because I've got 3 more doses. If she wants to see him she's going to be mad because I haven't taken him to get his purevax rabies vaccine yet!!! I hope she doesn't deny me cerenia for him.

So the pancreatitis group recommends giving enzymes just for pancreatitis? Are they assuming he also has exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI which is where his pancreas isn’t producing the enzymes he needs to digest his food.). Panzer has not been diagnosed with that unless he has had a GI panel done (bloodwork) to check specifically for that — it’s the trypsin-like immunoreactivity (TLI) test, which measures the level of trypsin in the blood. A low TLI value indicates EPI. I don’t think he’s had that test.

Oh I won't the last time I was there she asked if I wanted it because he was past due & I told her no he's past due because he went to a Saturday only clinic last time that offers purevax rabies vaccine & that's the only one I will allow. I told her the reason I hadn't taken him back was because they said he could come back unless he was drugged so I needed her to give me gabapentin, so she gave me a script. She warned me before doing anything with Panzer that if he bit or scratched anyone he would have to be quarantined. His head & front paws wet covered with a towel with me & 2 vet techs holding him down while she took blood & I had them exit the room before I removed the towel & nobody got hurt

Oh okay yeah I'm not sure I just scan read the toolbox & saw the word enzymes. They are asking questions over there but I wanted to get on here & share some GOOD NEWS FIRST
 
I went to Walmart to get some food to syringe feed Panzer & I picked out some frisky pate's. I decided to get some different fancy feast kinds to see if he might eat them. I got Fancy feast savory centers. I got 2 of the pate tuna gourmet gravy center 2 pate salmon gourmet gravy center &:2 pate beef gourmet gravy center, it was the only 3 flavors they had. I got home at +2.5 PMPS I tested Panzer & he was @287 I opened the can of the beef & mixed it up with water & tried to get him to go into the cat room where he normally eats wouldn't move so I sat it down in the kitchen & put Spook in the cat room & shut the door & he ate it every single bite of it!!! I was so happy I couldn't believe it, so I went back to Walmart before they closed &: grabbed 6 more of the beef. They eat again @+6 which is in 10mins & if he wants to eat in the kitchen he can eat wherever he wants...praying he eats it again!!!

The other good news as long as my vet will allow Panzer to come tomorrow DCIN is paying for his yearly exam. Senior panel & Urinalysis if needed up to $500 something. They want an estimate of the bill prior to the visit. I don't think he needs a urinalysis as bad as he needs fluids & more meds (cerenia shot maybe) cerenia to take home & hopefully buprenorphine. Also I don't know the carb count in those but his numbers are coming down!!! Praying for a him to eat again & for a vet visit tomorrow!!!

Excellent! Lots of good news there! I am very happy. You do have Gabapentin to give him before the visit, right? It needs to be given two hours prior to the time of the appointment because it takes that long to reach the full effect. That is very important.

Frequently it’s recommended to do one dose the night before a vet visit and then the dose the morning of the visit, but since his visit will (hopefully) tomorrow it’s a bit late for that. I would go ahead and get the urinalysis done if possible as an important part of his health check up. It’s very valuable information.

I gave him a 100mg last night & he still couldn't walk straight this morning & I thought he was going to hurt himself. He was trying to jump up on the bed & was out of it he couldn't make it & tried jumping off the table to get his chicky treat in the AM 100mg is his recommended dose. I was going to give him like 75mg tonight & if I can measure it somehow & either 75 or 100 in the morning. I'm going to tell them I've drugged him & need to bring him in right away. I also have to work tomorrow. My client said to come whenever I can & she's not having me clean the whole house & still paying me the same. She's been praying for Panzer, she's more of a best friend then a client we've grown close.

He ate every single bite again in the kitchen...I guess it's going to take time to go back in the cat room because he's associateing it with puking probably.

That dose of Gabapentin will definitely make most cats unsteady on their feet (and it could be dangerous if they are unsupervised and fall). I was only thinking of this for the vet visit since he’s incredibly high strung at the vet. Heck, my cats get ataxia with only 50 mg. Gabapentin.

He didn't get any last night but I gave him 100mg at AMPS well about 30mins after... Read spreadsheet about food to much to type. Going back to bed for an hour then going to call the vet.
