He got his second dose of Cabergoline today. I’m seeing extended lower numbers that I’ve never seen before and don’t know what to do. We’re 30 minutes from his PM shot and normally starts going up at this time but it’s not budging. I’ve never shot below 150 and am afraid to do his normal dose with the new meds maybe having an effect.

Do I feed him? Do I wait and see what happens? Reduce his dose? Skip?

How is his appetite? Any change in eating with the cabergoline?

Can you stall, meaning wait an extra 1/2 hour to start, without feeding? Anything more than 1/2 hour will impact your shot time tomorrow morning. Can you delay tomorrow AM's shot?

I see you did shoot 154 previously. He did see below 100 and extended blues in December.

No change in appetite. I can stall tonight and tomorrow morning. 20 minutes from normal shot time now and libre is showing it’s going down again.

Showing 108 after stalling 30 minutes, now 105

Unfortunately, stalling too much can make cats go down without food. Your options tonight are to keep stalling, reduce the dose (if you can monitor the first part of the cycle), or skip. I'm not fond of the skip option. A fourth option, which would make you even later, is to feed and wait for the numbers to start zooming up before shooting. What do you feel like?

PS: Eventually you should be able to shoot full dose at lower numbers, but now may not be the time due to starting cabergoline.

I’m not sure :( it’s still staying about the same.

If I did a reduction, what should I reduce to?

I am afraid to give him anything just because it seems like the Cabergoline might be doing something and I don’t know how it’ll continue to affect him. I would prefer to skip but will do what is best for him.

By reduction, I mean a one time half dose, so 4 units. You would go back to full dose tomorrow. The down side could be that the depot will still influence the first part of the cycle. The upside is it wouldn't hurt the depot as much as a skip. But you still need to be able to test tonight.

I suspect that since today is the 3rd cycle at 8.5 units, you are starting to see the influence of the 8.5 unit dose, not the cabergoline.

I ended up feeding him because I couldn’t decide, and thought maybe I would do the option you mentioned and wait for his numbers to zoom up but they didn’t really (at least not like I normally see after he eats). By the time they seemed much higher I thought it was probably too late, so we skipped. As of now the libre is showing that it’s coming back down. If it keeps going down and doesn’t end up higher for his AM shot, how should I adjust things? Or maybe it just depends where it’s at by then.. I don’t think many people are online when I do his morning shot so wanted to see if I can get any advice ahead of time.

Looks pretty flat to me, all numbers basically within 10% lately. As I mentioned above, the depot will influence the first part of the cycle regardless of shot or not this PM. I expect he'll start heading up later this cycle.

As your first skip I think(?) this is a good opportunity to gather data.

Are you home with him tomorrow and able to intervene if needed? Not that he will drop low, but best be prepared. If he's high in the AM, like over 200, you should be able to shoot as usual. Below that, I'd need the answer to the question about being around.
