Thread '12/11- BEAR- amps 320- bounce?

Hi everyone, it seems mr.bear is up to his tricks again. Pmps was 168.. our lowest shoot ever, and very much lower than our usual PMPS.
heres how it went down..

Stalled for 20 mins (no food while stalling), 164
Stalled for 15 min 160, retested immediately for error margins- 173

We just finally got him back on track from the vets and bouncing around with his times, and seemingly finally on the correct dose.. or the dose we’re actually seeing movement on the chart.

So i didnt want to stall too much longer, and with his recent history of ketones, skipping isnt an option at this point i dont think..

We shoot late because of our schedules not being consistent so i am aware our pm data lacks :(
With all of this info i decided to give him a token dose of 0.25 instead of his full 0.75.

I always panic when shooting a new low but i hope i did the right thing for him 🥺

Anyway, thats us! Happy Saturday everyone 🐱

168, 164, 173, 160 are all within the allowable margin of error for meters. He was pretty much steady. I'm glad you shot something and you'll get some good data from this. I'd get a +2 test if you can (+1 if not), so you get an idea where he might have been before the Lantus onset (when the dose starts working). When you see a preshot number that worries you, remember that he still has food to raise him, plus how ever long it takes for him to onset. During that time as the previous dose wears off, his numbers will also rise. Typical onset in Lantus is 2-3 hours.

Today was likely a bounce breaking cycle - that's a cycle where they start high and slide down most of the cycle. It was also six cycles after his last green, so timing is about right. The other thing about bounce breaking cycles, is that the start of the one following can have more action, so that's another reason to get that +2 tonight.

Thanks Wendy!

We just got our +1, 218. He normally does go up pmps after food etc, i think i calculated 70% of our pmps were lower than +1,+2.. however there was still that 20% where he has been lower. Pattern told us he would likely increase, but like we know with these kitties, pattern isn’t guaranteed every time lol.

We also have no idea how low hes actually going at night, im hoping our libre arrives soon so we can at least get 2 weeks of full data for some pm nadirs 🤞

When giving a token dose, do you just resume regular dosing next cycle? I feel like i would have shot more if it was an am cycle where i could be around to monitor, but given it being overnight I decided to go more conservative this time :)

So maybe a 30-35 bump over an hour with food? Similar to 12/7 AM cycle. It could be that he onsets a little earlier than +2, so that's why you are seeing some of the +2 as lower. As you saw on 12/10, that bigger from from PS to +2 can indicate a more active cycle.

And yes, resume his regular 0.75 unit dose tomorrow morning.

We did get our +2, same exact # as +1, so i rechecked and got 203, meter variances 🤷‍♀️ i doubt wel see too much action tonight with the reduced dose, but its anyone’s guess

Looks like last cycles insulin action is all done now. Sleep well.
Yes assuming he had a relatively calm night, i stayed up as late as i could for data.. amps this morning was actually 180 which is surprising! I expected him to run high!

Hi Vanessa, you’ve had some nice data on shooting around 180 previously, so if you are able to monitor today, I would shoot 0.75u.

Thanks Christie! I was thinking the same, its not much lower than our 12/10, which was a good day for him! Il be around for the first half of the cycle to get some numbers in.
Im going to start a new thread if you want to keep up with today’s action 😆 🏄‍♀️ 🌊

I’’m around myself this morning so can keep an eye on the cycle too. You’ve disturbed the depot a little with a reduced shot last night, but you may continue to see a nice flat cycle today.

I’m always up for watching out for shenanigans with Bear, sorry I missed you last night, I actually went out for dinner and a show, and was gone for 6 hours…first time in about 2 years :D

That actually makes sense, i was wondering how he was surprisingly low this morning given the token dose last night, but the depot 🤦‍♀️

Will this mean a potentially less active cycle today?

That sounds lovely, I hope you had a great time! 😊
And not to worry, I know I can always count on our friends out on the west coast (s/o to @Wendy&Neko 👋) for those late night watches 👀 ..one of the times the time difference works in our favour lol..

new thread here we come! 🐻
