Abbott has issued a "device correction". Roughly 3 million devices provide inaccurate low readings due to a manufacturing problem. Inside that second link is a way for people to check the serial numbers and have them replaced by Abbott if it matches the one on your device.

For anyone asking Abbott for a replacement, please make sure NOT to say the sensor is used for a cat.
They will not replace it for a cat.
You must say it’s used for a human (don’t say it’s for Fuffy or Tigger etc)
Use your name or a human name 🥰
 
Yes it is very important no say is for your pet also request a 48 hour shipping, and always keep the box of the sensor being used, when returning, they will ask you to give information from defective sensor from the box

I forgot to say before - thank you so much for posting this, Wendy! I wonder how many affected sensors are out there. I imagine it probably can't hurt to check the serial number on each one for awhile.

Awful to think there were deaths because of a manufacturing problem like this.
