Hi all Freestyle CGM Libre users,
I wanted to let you know that I found out about a new coupon that Abbott has put out for purchasing Libres at a huge savings.
It enables the User to purchase a Libre for $19.99 each, which is a significant savings.

I found out about the savings on the Facebook Freestyle Libre for Dogs and Cats page this past week (if you’re not already a member of that page, it’s really important to be a member there because there’s so much valuable information about using a Libre sensor).

I printed out the coupon from the Abbott website and took it to my pharmacy yesterday to test it out and got them to apply it.
I paid the $19.99 each 🎉🥳😻💕

It did take a bit of arm twisting at my pharmacy to get it to go through.
The clerk kept telling me it wasn’t going to work because I was using it for a pet and this was “probably just for human” and my vet doesn’t have an NPI number.

I persisted and kept telling her that I knew people who got it to work for pets.

Eventually, the pharmacist came over to see what the dispute was about, made a phone call and then told the clerk what to do and magically the coupon was applied and worked.

So it seems like with the coupon in hand, It may take some persistence on your part and a pharmacist involvement and willingness, in case there is some pushback at the counter.

(It’s a similar experience I’ve had with the Good RX coupon for Lantus for $35. Same resistance but yet the coupon does in fact work.)

Below is the link to the Abbott webpage for the actual coupon since the screenshot is a little bit blurry.

Good luck and enjoy the savings to help you and your kitty 💕😻🥰

I believe you and I asked. Won't hurt to keep asking.
I was reading the resources and can I put the libre numbers into the spreadsheet?
Not able to get alpha track readings with mine; only 1 set of hands.

TIA

Yes, you can use whatever numbers in your spreadsheet you are using.
Just indicate in your signature and on your spreadsheet at the top what meter you are using.
Feel feee to look at my signature and spreadsheet as an example.

When Ivy is LO on the Libre (which I use every day all day) I put the values in my spreadsheet as well. For example, if she is LO on the Libre but tests 68 on the Contour meter, I write LO L 68 C
Hope this helps!

Pharm told me no discounts for "a cat." 😭
The LIbre will not recognize a cat as a device user, as well as if you are using sensors and they stop working, they will replace them, but you cannot mention the fact that they are for a cat

The script sent over is from the vet so the pharmacy knows
I'm not sure the work around for that.

Walmart will fill the script, and the sensors , you just need to call the number on the box and give the serial number and they will replace them just do not mention the word “cat”😂

Ok I'll ask Walmart to get the script for me from the other place I guess

That’s were I use to purchase them you should ask your vet to give you another script for the sensors as a PRN prescription that’s for a year the sensor only last 14 days and many times they don’t last as long, plus you can replace them yourself it’s very simple, and avoid costly vet visits as well

@CORKY What's a PRN ?
Edit :
Yes, I started applying myself. So far so good.

I see. Thanks for help on the abbreviations

its a 1 year (or as needed) prescription, since the sensors only last 14 days, sometimes 8, You do not need to go back and forth to the Vet to get a new prescription, pay for the visit, an placement, which you can do at home, and keep the money in your pocket every time the sensor stops working, and I advice that you keep an extra sensor so you always have a reading when one stops working, when I first had them on Corky I bought 2 at a time, they would stop working at the 7th 8th day I think only 1 lasted the 14, that's why I started with the ReliOn, my nerves were shot, plus the Libre tends to read the low BG's like it may read in the 50s when actually is high 70-80s, so when you get a low reading under 70 you should manually test as well for your sanithy

Got it. Thanks. I just need to get the script moved to the drug place it's at to Walmart.
It is a continuous script. I'll call over there today.

Edit to add: the script is titled "Solomon -Cat " literally lol 😂

Technically, it should not matter if it’s for a cat. My pharmacist knows it is for my cat and still processed it. They also process my Lantus insulin prescription as well. They know it is for my cat, so I guess it depends on the pharmacy you are using and if they are going to choose to give you a hard time or not. If they do, go to another pharmacy.

I'll ask the vet to send a different one to Walmart and take out the word cat. Worth a shot. :) The pharmacy I'm at would help me at all. They said "no, it's not for a human."

Shame on them. Go elsewhere! Someone will want your business.
I just held my ground and explained that I knew of numerous people who purchased them for their cats and the coupons were honored.
I hope you get a sympathetic, helpful person ❤️‍🩹

It’s the replacement of the sensor if it stops working before the 14 days, you need to call the customer service number that’s behind the box, do not throw away the Box until the 14 days of use,or if they fall off because they will ask you for serial number on the sensor box, THEY will not replace it if they know is being used for a cat, they guaranteed and replace within 48 hours, trust me, I had that problem with the first sensor that fell off and every other one that would stop working after 4 or 8 days after placement, is not the pharmacy, is the tge claim to the manufacturer of the sensor

I see on this Abbott manufacturer coupon it says it expires 12/25, so we will see if that is true as the end of the year approaches.
Hoping they will still honor this price in 2026!
