Dosage increases without Vet

Well, if he has one of those higher green AMPS like he did twice over the weekend, I would try just 1 unit. It may not be enough, but we can get an idea before you leave for work. That will help us tweak the dose next time.

Yes. And my roommate is working from home today so she'll keep an eye on him. She won't have time for testing but if he has symptoms of hypo she knows what to do.

I accidentally measure out 3 portions of food that would be enough of I was feeding him twice today and because it's a mix of 2 different foods I couldn't fix it so he's only getting 2 meals today

Okay. Paws crossed for George on the new dose :bighug:
Can the carb count in his wet food affect his glucose numbers? I'm wondering if his spike is from his food. I am slowly switching him from one food to another because of price and carb count but ran too low on the new one and had to increase how much of the higher carb one I was using. I've now found a even cheaper option with lower carbs and am switching him to that slowly but hes still getting some of the higher carb stuff.

Yes. The higher carbs will mean higher blood glucose. Anything ten percent carbs and under (on a dry matter basis) is fine. Some cats are more carb sensitive than others and some give better numbers with carbs closer to ten.

The higher carb one that I'm weening him off of is 6, the other two are 1.5/2... He was doing so well, unless this is a bounce.. does bouncing last long?

So none of those foods are particularly high carb. The 6 percent should also be acceptable, but it’s fine to experiment with cat food and see how it goes. If you give a particular food and he eats it — and then wait about 20-30 minutes and test the BG, you will see how much of a “food bump” you get in numbers.

Since we don’t know his nadir last night, we don’t know if today’s numbers are a reaction to George dropping into numbers lower than his body is accustomed to.

yeah. Its just hard to get overnight numbers with my job. I try to get one at least 2 hours after insulin but it cant always happen. I'm slowly moving his insulin to an earlier time in the day is it will be easier to get 2 hours and 4 hours after PMPS
