Beautiful, thank you!
It didn't look good, eeek. Not sure about the achilles either.... looks like treatment is usually surgery and/or cast/brace but she didn't think Petey would go for the cast. Lets hope it can heal on its own and not keep getting injured. She wanted me to restrict him to a dog crate but I think I will just remove all the possible problem areas.... otherwise he usually just sleeps in front of the stove.Poor Petey, good news about minimal arthritis though! The dental seems daunting, but glad you’re aware of it and can come up with a plan…
These boys, oy vey! My guess is it may have happened during a zoomie event or playing -both of which he had never done before recently, compounded by jumping on and off the bed, which is pretty high.... that's my best guess. There was a few times during his zoomies that I said, he was going to hurt himself he was so wild. I just hope it can heal on it's own.. my research so far does not really lean in that direction, but he is not plantigrade stance on that leg.. so that is a positive right now too. I might try some red light therapy.Aww, poor guy. Any idea how that happened? (I know, kind of impossible to tell with a cat and what they get up to - literally!)
Crazy that they never even asked about how his diabetes is doing.
Great news about not having too much arthritis! At least that means that he'll likely feel much better after he rests up this injury. The tooth stuff is really hard (Xander needs his done too), so we may end up going through that together.
My little man is home, might be tripping a little. He was starving, they only gave him one of his snacks and he had a VERY surprisingly low BG of 113. How low he went, I have no idea.
Appears he has an injured achilles tendon, very inflamed. Restricted movement, Onsior for 3 days, continue Gaba. He also only has a small amount of arthritis -so that is great news. Left side teeth are very, very bad, will need work once we get over this hurdle. Blood work will be back the next couple days, didn't get urinalysis cause his bladder was empty but sent me home with a home collection kit.
Vet never even asked how the diabetes management is going,.
Thank you all for the continued support and positive vines.
They did not do a very good job redeeming themselves today, but he got what he needed and it saved us a very long car trip. I even told the tech he was on par to clear a bounce today.. but it may not happen with the vet stress... whelp it clearly happened. I cannot wait to see the BG from the blood work. I am still shocked he was so low at +9.How can vets not understand that cats need food! We could never get a straight answer from any vet about how much Kobe ate; "oh, he ate for us!" Yeah, okay, how much? It doesn't count if he just licked the fortiflora off the top!
Sorry for the rant. I'm mad on Petey's behalf that they didn't think to feed him more than one snack. Brought up some uresolved rage.
Good news about the arthritis! Sorry about the toofers. Hope they aren't too problematic in the meantime.
Just re-reading that the vet didn't ask about the diabetes.
Ufda.

Thank you, Briana. It's good to know what we're working to heal. He is very happy to be home, or likes being stoned and has the munchies hahaha!UGH I'm so sorry Laurie! Can't believe they didn't give him all his snacks and also didn't ask about his diabetes?! Makes vet visits even more scary. Sending healing energy for his injury, good blood work, and for safe BG numbers tonight.
You're doing everything for him and it's amazing![]()
You could not have said it better! I really want to be one of the lucky ones!Sorry to hear about the crummy vets office. Vets are a hit and miss sometimes, especially when dealing with special cats like ours. Sometimes they end up being just glorified drug dealers with an expensive college degree. Other times they are intimidated by your questions and refuse to work with you. But every now and then some of us are able to find that one Vet that is willing to really work with you and deep dive into your cat's case. I wish they could all be like that.
Anyways, glad to hear Petey is doing a little better! Sending you all of the positive energy and healing vibes![]()
Thank youHi Laurie and thanks for the update.
Hopefully his Achilles issue can heal somewhat on its own and no surgery. As for the teeth I guess it's unavoidable as the kitties age. Nestle is waiting for his dental in a few weeks. I'm so stressed about it already.
Boys and I are sending lots and lots of healing vines your way![]()
