Zot 03/07 | AMPS 101, +4 93, +7 94, +9 92, PMPS 83

Good habit to have the Google sheet app on your phone and log them right away. I also take a picture of the meter every time to have if I ever lost my Google sheet.

I see your note that he was 60 at PMPS yesterday and you skipped, that’s good, but that earns him another reduction following SLGS.

On the meals, what’s your feed schedule now?

I will reduce his dose.

Right now, he has his two main meals (I've been offering about a third of the can for those meals) of friskies pate, but he leaves a little under half of it on the plate, and I give him 2 Tsp meals @+3 and @+5 in AM and PM. The feeding schedule is still kind of shifty right now, wondering if I need to push it back to a little bit of a later time, but someone had said that some people try not to feed after +6. He rejects his main meals, eats most of his snacks, and then screams like he's starving while sitting next to his food dish at random times.

@Tim & Pookey, great idea to take a photo of the meter reading. I have actually accidentally deleted my SS .

Good catch on the PMPS reading, Tim.

Stephanie, it looks like Zot is responding very well to insulin! Good for you both. BTW, I love the name "Zot." What's the story behind it?

Yes, I will definitely be taking photos, or using my phone (I don't know how I didn't think of that) for keeping his ss up to date.

I'm glad to hear it! He has not had a day hitting 200 in a bit!

Thank you so much! Zot's actually a bit of a childish story. My crush/boyfriend sort of deal when I was a pre-teen (age; 11 or 12) had two cats: Zombie and Spot. I promised him when I got my new kitten I'd name them after his cats. We stopped talking, but I still followed through. It also worked out perfectly, because I really enjoy the candy called "Zotz"! I love giving odd names/human names to my pets.

I have some thoughts but let’s see if someone more experienced can guide you on the food.

He’s looking sooo good! Since he’s down to .25 if he wants food later I’d give a snack at +8-9. They often get hungry when the bg is getting lower.

Yes, will do this! Thank you so much!

Also question, if you feel comfortable answering;
So I am following the SLGS method, however it says not to dose to 90 and below, yet Zot consistently drops to around 90 or below, and it seems that he's heading that way.
Beginners start without shooting under 200, however Zot doesn't like to stay over 200.
So I decide to get comfortable shooting 150, Zot isn't climbing to 150 anymore at his pre-shots.
So I decide 120 is the number I'll go for, but hardly any luck with that either.
He seems to be sitting comfortable around 90-95 currently, is it okay to shoot this low and monitor?

I'm considering switching to TR as well, I wanted to do SLGS just because it feels a little more comfy while learning, but because he's reacting so (idk how to word this) strongly to the insulin, or at least a lot quicker/better than I expected him to, it feels hard to even shoot with a lot of his readings. I'm not really sure how to go about continuing to dose him if he is chilling in low blues and high greens. I may be missing something, still trying to remember all the information about SLGS, but I forget bits and pieces here and there.

EDIT: Also I want to do a curve, but it says after being on a dose for 1 week to do the curve. I am wondering, if he needs to be on the same dosage consistently for a week before doing it, or just within receiving a full weeks worth of doses?

So far he’s holding the reductions. If that doesn’t happen I think if my cat I would then definitely switch to TR. With SLGS you eventually can shoot if over 90. I do think you could handle TR but only you know that.

You actually test enough that you don’t really need a curve. With SLGS a curve is dine after 7 days on a dose to catch the nadir but you are catching it and you are correct that he hasn’t been on a dose for 7 days.

I will read up some more on TR again and refresh my memory.
He just read 91 @ PMPS, stalled, now reading 83. I'm going to skip this dose tonight, to educate myself some more on TR.
Yes, I get a bit anxious and have been testing quite a bit lol, but he's learned to sit really well and it's become a positive experience with minor problems of him tilting his head up at me to get my attention.
