Good evening,

we had a pink day. I don't know if it was a bounce from the blue numbers yesterday or the inflammation coming back. Binie started licking her belly again, which is not a good sign.

We got the antibiogram today. The tree germs which have been diagnosed in her urine in December are still there in a very huge number. To make things worse, she developed new resistances. So the two possible antibiotics which worked for all three germs before, now only work for one or two germs.

Tomorrow I will see the vet and she was so kind to speak to a specialist today. She already wrote me that he recommended another antibiotic, which will work for two of the germs, for one only if given in a higher dose. So at least we have something left in our toolbox and I am more than grateful. Not a great option, but something. And we will talk about better pain management. I don't want to see Binie in that much pain anymore.

What I learned the hard way now: Please! Think twice if your vet tells you, your cat needs antibiotics. Ask questions about alternatives. Of course you should give them if really necessary. Antibiotics safe lifes. Always make an antibiogram. Resistances are real. Adverse reactions to antibiotics are real. For cats and for humans. No one wants to euthanize their cat, because you don't have treatment options for a simple UTI any more.

Thank you so much for the kind words and support under my last post. I appreciate that so, so much. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Cecile, thank you so much for checking on us! Yes, it was super scary. Binie got up from the couch and couldn't walk normally. Of course I had to think about Bella in this moment. But I also noticed this other strange behavior which didn't match a thrombosis. I was prepared to bring her somewhere but thank god we have online doctors you can call and they helped me to evaluate the situation. Of course I am scared now to try another antibiotic but what can I do.... I send you lots of love and hugs! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much Seth! :bighug::bighug::bighug: Yes, that's nothing I need again. Thank god it was only a small episode and she was almost normal again after two hours. Binie says thank you for the hugs! :bighug::cat::bighug:

Thank you so much Karen! :bighug::bighug::bighug: I don't know if we find a longer-term solution. We are dealing with this since she became diabetic and no antibiotic managed to get rid of the multi-resistant germs. But buying time would be already good. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, we are sending lots of paws and fingers crossed that the next medication helps Binie feel well and not have pain.
I’m so glad you are going to be able to meet with the vet tomorrow and Binie can stay at home and not be stressed by the visit. I think it sounds like a good idea for you too to try to come up with a plan.
I’m glad the vet wants to work with you to strategize how to help Binie even more.

You’re doing such a great job researching options and taking such comprehensive care of her. She’s so lucky to have such an amazing Mum.
We send you and Binie huge hugs and Good wishes for a relaxing sleep, and some helpful answers tomorrow.
Will be waiting to hear your updates, we send lots of love to you both.

I am so, so glad it was not that!
I am sorry to read that she is in pain again and that the germs are back, or still there, rather. I hope you will find a solution that helps her, soon. Plenty of hugs to you both :bighug::bighug: and thank you for always answering!

It is a really tough situation for you, Heike. I am sorry :bighug::bighug:. Good advice to heed as well, seems like antibiotics get thrown out as the first step to just about any problem these days.

So sorry that bacteria is troubling her again. I’m glad you’re able to talk with the vet tomorrow and strategize a solution. It’s so hard when you know they are in pain so it’s good you’re getting in before the weekend. Tiger and I are sending you hugs and prayers for a rapid recovery for Binie. She is so lucky to have you to take care of her…….

Hi Heike. I am so sorry you are both going through this. Paws crossed and prayers the new medication works and Binie feels better.

Hi Heike <3

I'm sorry that Binie is suffering like that.
I deeply resonate with what you wrote about AB. I learned the same lessen the hard way as well.
Fistuk got way too many time AB and I didn't know any better and didn't explore alternatives. The very just killed his gut bacteria and he started having horrible rections.
I'm happy that your vet is going out of the way to help and support in any way possible.
Paws crossed the new AB will help.
Sending much love :bighug::bighug::bighug:
