Stalling need help

197 is not very different from the 220 you have shot, if you consider meter variance. Was the 197 on the AT or the Libre?
Can you get another test now?

If you can monitor, you want to give the shot. He will most probably bounce from the lows he saw.

Your goal is to be able to shoot lower (not too low)
So if you are comfortable testing him to make sure he’s safe, and you have supplies needed, you could give his dose.

If you’ve very nervous, you could give a slight reduced dose.
Since you had a DKA, we don’t want to skip if possible.

I typically do a +5 or 6 and mid afternoon to hold him over till dinner or when I need to bribe him for blood. Are there suggested snack times?
You could give a small snack at +2 or +3 (especially if he is going lower). And once you really learn his patterns, it’s a bit easier to figure out when to give a snack. All you need is maybe one or 2 teaspoons, not a lot, and that would be that much less you would give at a larger meal time.

It’s a lot of experimenting in the beginning to figure out how he reacts to carbs. Some cats only need low carb snacks to keep them coasting along evenly other cats need a medium carb to do the job.
And since you have the Libre, you can see if he starts diving at +1+2+3 and you could give a small snack if you know he dives at those times, especially in a cycle where he’s going lower.

I tend to feed Ivy a small low carb (her regular 6% food) snack at +1, +2 and +3 and then no more the rest of her cycle (unless she’s having a really active cycle, then I use 12%) but that’s just me.
Ivy doesn’t come up for me on her 6% regular diet if she’s diving.

Everybody does it a little bit differently, depending on what they learn about their cat’s needs.

Gave him a snack (1-2 teaspoons of this wet food with xtra water) just before his +3 which is when he seems to start coming down rapidly. So far he has been holding steady in the low to mid twos on the libre. Looking at the libre graphs the last few days, it's like his body keeps testing out some new lows, spikes, then tries to relax again. Hopeful. He is also such a good example why patience is soooo important in spite of the difficulty. Thanks for being there to guide and support us. :bighug:

Good job with the snacks. Hope that helped. it looks like he bounced from seeing those low numbers early this morning. Don’t forget to fill in your pre-shot number on your spreadsheet as well as the amount of units you gave.
You might want to put in the notes section what you fed him at what time, that way the next time it happens, you’ll have a reference of how to handle things.

Good job today and yes, we definitely need patience. Glad you were able to keep Petey nice and safe :cat:
