Hello!
Maria was diagnosed with FELV (Feline Leukemia Virus). The virus has become active and has created various issues for her such as pancreatitis which warrants diabetes mellitus, stomatitis, swollen abdomen, anemia, high liver values and various others. Urine tests showed no germs.
Because she is three-legged and walks differently, she has spondylitis and can sometimes be in pain, this may be the reason she pees outside her litter box but also her general appearance. Unfortunately I have another cat in the house who probably has the FELV virus.
I give her VETOMUNE and Hepatiale Forte. The vet also mentioned virbagen (interferons) but its price is very high!:(
What we can do is treat the symptoms as best we can.If my other cat has the virus I will have to test him often, if he doesn't I will have to separate them..:(
Is there anything more I can do?

I’m so sorry to hear this, Petty. You’re doing such a good job with Sweet Maria.
I have no experience with these situations so can’t advise.
Perhaps post a question on the main forum page to see if anyone there has any ideas, you may get more people to see it over there.
Sending you lots of hugs and good wishes!!!

Thank you very much! I wanted to share this with you as it seems diabetes in cats is multifaceted...I am very sad but also lucky to met you..:bighug:
Me and Maria will continue the effort with your guidance, because I want her to have the best quality of life and regulating her sugar level is important

Hi Petty. I am sorry to hear this. I don't have any experience with FELV either.
Sending you positive vibes and I hope you get the information that you need.

I don’t have experience either. Cornell Vet School has a good article about this though. :bighug:You research everything so probably know all. Will vaccines protect your other cat if negative? I know in the past not foolproof. I’m so sorry to see this.

Sorry, not one I am familiar with either. Sorry things have become so complicated for Maria. You might want to start a general post in the Feline Heath forum titled "experience with FELV?". That might reach a wider audience.

Thank you very much! It will protect her to a certain extent as far as I know and it will only do so if she doesn't have the virus..

Thank you very much! I've already done it..no answer..it's hard unfortunately for both cats..:(

I believe that you do have to keep the two cats separated (as opposed to a cat with FIV.) I am so sorry. This is heartbreaking. I am sure they must have a groups.io group for cats with FeLV. That might be a good place to start. :bighug:
