Happy New Year.
Happy New Year.
I wonder if Kai will still show you all the new year’s fireworks colors …. He can go from black to green in same day based on history. Reminds me of my reaction to Jude’s sheet and speculating to Marielle if there is such a thing as pancreas turning on and off, to which she told me her vet calls it “sputtering pancreas”. I also wonder if the lantus depot could behave differently in different cats. I’m totally making this up as I have no idea. But it sure seems like cats that have more pronounced swings must have something different going on than cats that are flatter or have a form of bell curve. I’m going to go see if i can find anything about variance in lantus depot behavior. Very curious.
Hoping Kai has a nice downward trend today.![]()
I did some searching and found a couple of good threads about sputtering pancreas and/vs bouncing. Links below.I wish i could just tell his pancreas to get a clue lol!
I just hate it when he bounces up this high. When he does he is not interested in his food at shot time. He will eat just enough for a shot but not all of it. But then at +4 he is starving. But this is only when he is running this high. Let me know if you find anything.
This is very good to know. Understand ecid of course but I never thought to consider this nuance so now I’m going to look for this possibly w/ Minner. I often get bent out of shape at what seems a fast drop (to me, altho i dont think i’ve seen 50/hr like what kai may have seen). And now I think some of these drops are when minner started a cycle high, ate early in cycle but none 2nd half and then starts accelerating down in 2nd half. So maybe a small snack is needed. Anywho, lots of good nuggets of knowledge there …. Thank you. Did not mean to hijack Kai’s thread here and comment on Minner, i’m just relating!I found that bounces caused by fast drops would often cause worse bounces than those caused by going low.
[SIZE=4 said:You can't do anything about his reaction to greens, and you want him to see green. What you can do is try to make sure any fast drops are more gentle drops. You do that by finding out when his does his biggest drops, and feeding some food 1/2 hour or so before hand, so he has fresh carbs on board to slow the drop.
The good news with all this bouncing is that he's clearing those bounces fairly quickly, which is a good sign. The down side to clearing bounces is that you can get some downward momentum pushing down numbers, and leading to those fast drops again. So when you see a bounce breaking cycle might happen, that's when you can use food to help manipulate the curve.

I think he's going to bounce anyway due to the greens he's not used to. But if you can slow down fast drops (which are only part of the story), then maybe he won't bounce quite as high. I see he dropped 300 points in 3 hours again today. We are just rinsing and repeating because i'm not catching on fast enough?
