FYI - Discontinuing Relion 8mm Syringes

We've been using the Relion 8 mm, 31 gauge, 3/10 ml u100 syringes since forever, and I just found out today they are being discontinued. None of the Walmarts around here have them. They have the 6 mm though, which is supposed to be the same except the needle is shorter.

That is a shame. I wonder why

i just picked up a box today. I wonder if they’re being discontinued by where I live.

I found out the same thing on Friday when I tried to buy some and called four local stores and none of them had any left.
I’m sure your store pharmacy will soon be out of them as well. If you can get them now, do it ASAP.
It’s a companywide discontinuation :(

Supposedly because people want the shorter needle. That's what the pharmacy tech told me the manufacturer said. I'm going to purchase the 6mm today and see how they work for us. We still have some 8mm to tide us over if I need to figure something else out. Just so annoying. :arghh:
I feel the same. I bought a box of 6 mm to try. I Tried them yesterday and it went OK. But still prefer the 8mm.
:arghh:

6mm (15/164 inches) might be too short for some cats, like those with long fur or thick-ish skin. And I think the risk of a needle stick or a fur shot is greater since one might not be able to tell if the needle is in the tented skin or not with fur in the way.

It may be worth looking to see what other inexpensive brands have 8mm (5/16 inch needles) that works best on your cat. UltiCare is pretty good. A box of 8mm 31 gauge 3/10cc with half unit markings is $17.95 on Chewy, a little less with the auto ship option. Amazon may have them cheaper. There's only 60 syringes per box, though.

My two cents :)

Thanks, good to know.

hello! :bookworm: what news.. (thanks for posting!) well.

always used the 8 mm and just recently decided to get him the 6 mm from now on cuz they pinch less….. geez haha. we’ve also had them go in just fine. :cat: i had trouble getting the 8 mm sometime earlier this year and tried the 6 mm. work again just as well. :cat: and again hurt less. understand tho depending on fur and skin type.. we’ve been all right tho. may take a little getting used to but mught find even prefer it. i hate that too tho when something u like/prefer gets canned.. :blackeye::coffee: terrible.
