Good morning!

Shooter is bouncing this morning. I went ahead and put the feeders out so we'll see how it goes. I have a spy camera on them. lol

@Wendy&Neko, @Diane Tyler's Mom GA, I hadn't read your last messages until after I shot this morning, but please go to my last entry on the last post and educate me on this whole caliper thing. Of course anyone who is able to help can reply. I just tagged them because they mentioned a bigger dose decrease.

Hi Heather,
I use the calipers as well and here’s how I calculate my dosing.

Ivy is currently on 3.75 units and I use ReliOn syringes (one of the brands in the link posted to your page yesterday)

I calculate 1.32 mm x 3.75 u = 4.95 mm
So my calipers is set to 4.95 mm and that’s what I line up to my syringe for each dose.
(*1.32 is the factor/per 1 unit for ReliOn syringes specifically, check for what brand you use ).
Make sense????

I had one feeder for two cats. Neko was the dominant/more aggressive when it came to food. Theo didn't even try going for her feeder, unless she wasn't in the house. We used it a couple times when Neko went away for a day with us, so I knew he did know how to use it.

I loved my calipers! Basically measure the number of mm in 1.0 units - try a few syringes so you get a consistent number. Multiple that number of mm by 4.25 and you have the number of mm in your new dose. The video/post that Colleen linked shows it better.

I hope Shooter slid down today. I'm glad Wendy gave you directions on figuring the measurements for calipers. The number on the calipers won't match the number of your dose. A 4.5 unit does won't be 4.5 on the calipers. I hope that makes sense. :bighug:

Ok, that does help but... Sometimes I find with the CarePoint syringes first mark isn't right up at the top. The plunger actually goes a little above it which means a tiny bit more insulin. Do you account for this?

Ok, I'll practice more this weekend. For now, I'm just gonna write what I've been until I figure out what it actually is (which sounds like he's actually getting more insulin that I thought).

I almost always get sparkle in my nails. I've been doing it for so long the plain seems too plain for me now. lol

I think you just basically ignore the markings. That’s the point of that calipers.
You line up your upper arm with the ring and go by your caliper measurement.
Make sure to watch Marje’s video in the link. She explains it so well.
