Good evening,

after a really high night with numbes > 400 all night she saw some yellow numbers today but only for a short time. Eating at shot time is still difficult at the moment but inbetween she sometimes serves herself.

She drank a lot last night and peed a lot. Hopefully only because of the high bg and nothing else going on with her kidneys. I measured ketones at 5.5 and with 0.2 mmol/dl they are still o.k.

Besides she is sleepy and slow but seems not to be completely unwell.

I can't wait for this week to be over.

Hope everyone has a good start in the week! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike, Ivy and I are sending you lots of love. I know you are worried. Hope this week goes quickly and she feels better.

Just so you know for comparison, Ivy pretty much sleeps the day away too. If I don’t pick her up and bring her upstairs, she would just lay in her bed.

I do think some of it is age related and maybe some of it is also that they don’t feel so great. I can’t be sure what’s actually happening. I wish they could talk to us.

I do know that when Ivy‘s BG is high she always drinks more and pees more so it definitely seems to be related to the higher numbers. Hopefully it’s nothing more than that.

Wishing you both a good rest tonight :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug: It helps me so much to have an outside perspective. I sometimes compare Binie with her younger self, which is not useful. So much more helpful to compare her with another old lady like Ivy. Yes, I also hope her drinking and peeing is related to her bg. I just wonder why her bg is so high at the moment. All seems strange...

I see Ivy is doing one of her famous late dips again. I hope she comes up in the next two hours so you can inject without worries.

I hope you have a nice evening Staci and a peaceful night! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Poor Binie and poor you! How many more days of antibiotics? Have you tried any medicine for nausea, or to stimulate her appetite? Or maybe a little topper on her food like crumbled feeeze dried chicken or liver or salmon? I hope she’s better soon and you have a chance to relax. It’s always so stressful when numbers go up :nailbiting:

That’s a good point. I’m sure I do the same thing.
I always remember Ivy as a kitten climbing the window blinds and swinging from a tall plant. She was a very naughty kitten who got into everything and ruined many things (it never upset me, I always thought she was so adorable).

So it’s hard to see her as so sedentary. But I have to try to understand that she’s not that raucous kitty any more. She’s my old lady who I still adore.

Hi Colleen,

last dose is on Sunday morning. So four more days to go. :( I think she is not nauseous, she is eating but has no great appetite. Seems to be a common side-effect of this antibiotic. She gets all the good stuff she usually don't get. Higher carb and I pimp it with a kind of broth she likes a lot. I also tried crumbled freeze dried chicken but that was not a hit. I never tried liver or salmon. Raw liver? And - maybe stupid question - smoked salmon?

The strange thing is, that she is eating if I am not close. Usually she likes me feeding her a lot. This time, she rather eats on her own.

I hope you and the boys are well and you can watch the deer getting their drink! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,

I can picture little Ivy climbing the window blinds very well! :) One can never be angry with them, isn't it? Sometimes I can't believe it myself but I've been never angry with Binie in all the years, even though she gave enough reason. Our old girls. :cat::kiss::cat:

Hope you and Ivy are well! I'm going to check on you now. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Freeze dried salmon or freeze dried liver (the company I get freeze dried chicken also makes freeze dried salmon and a different company makes freeze dried liver. I don’t know if the companies cook any of it …

Ah! Thank you! I am happy to read "freeze dried"! I thought you mean uncooked liver. :nailbiting: So far I only found freeze dried chicken and fish here, no liver. Someone told me to look through the dogs snacks. The freeze dried treats are the same but more different types and much cheaper. I will have a look. Thank you!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
