raw feeding

Hi all! I am interested in if anyone has any experience with raw feeding their kitties. I am currently feeding Primal's dehydrated raw diet and rehydrating with a ton of water. I find its a great way to get a lot of moisture into my little girl. Anyone have any experience with either homemade raw diets or commercial/complete raw diets? Would love some info on either!

I feed my cats a home made raw diet. If you live in the US you can get supplements to add to the meat to make is a complete meal nutritionally.
I will tag @Wendy&Neko and @tiffmaxee to give you details on the supplements available.

I used both commercial raw (brands available in Canada) and home made raw with Neko. I added water to both too. The home made I used a premix or meal completer. I've used both TC Feline and FoodFurLife's EZComplete. I have an exotic meat butcher about 5 minutes away, so lots of options in meat types for making my own. There are also a couple of pet stores nearby that sell raw, including one that only sells raw. Neko took to it right away. Her buddy took a little longer to transition. I found that the raw seemed to somehow be more satisfying for Neko, she needed less volume to fill her up.

Every couple of weeks I'd spend about 1/2 hour putting together 2 weeks worth of food for the two cats. I got some little freezer containers that fit a day's worth of food for each. A good kitchen scale helps in getting the right amount of food and premix measured.

If you want to go the premix route, Alnutrin is one of many others out there, but started by a former FDMB member. Some cats like one premix better than another. Prices vary with the premixes. I feed all my kitties raw also. I order the meat from Hare Today and use either Food Fur Life or Alnutrin (depending on whether the meat has bone or not) for the supplements. The hardest part is remembering to pull the 5lb meat tube out of the freezer to thaw!

what about any experience with fresh pet food ? i’ve been looking at the website SMALLS .. my dogs are raw fed and Miss Bee seems to want their raw diet so badly!

I also have a local raw butcher. I make my own for my dogs and add “multivitamins”. i’m just not as educated in feline nutrition.. nevermind a diabetic!

No, I don’t. I use Primal and Small Batch. Smalls is on the lists of better foods to feed but I don’t know the carbs in it.

I emailed them and they got back to me with carb content! i’m gonna give it a try! She loooves her primal freeze dried too!!

is there somewhere it might be helpful for me to post the carb content of each flavor ?
