7/7/24 WATSON AMPS 305 Libre / 240 meter

Morning everyone! Watson was not feeling good yesterday. He spent most of the day sleeping either on my lap or nearby, and he had such a liquid poop that I could hear it from the other room. I added some probiotic to his supper so hopefully today will be better. I am just wondering, could him not feeling well raise his blood sugar? He was in the 400s and 300s almost all day yesterday

Forgot to post this, we tried a new treat last night. It was a tiki chicken and a quail egg and apparently it was not a hit with any of the four cats as their bowls were still full this morning ☹️

A good probiotic is Visbiome Vet. It’s the same as the human one available at many vet offices but even Amazon. I think he needs an increase. He’s been in this dose 12 days and only a few days with blue. I would maybe give it until Tuesday to see if when he’s feeling better he sees more blue.

The probiotic I had is Fortiflora, I thought I had seen that recommended on the site. I agree he’s probably ready for an increase. I will monitor him today and tomorrow and up on Tuesday.

Fortiflora works well as an appetite enhancer, but it is not a good probiotic. It is only a single strain of probiotic, plus it's full of animal digest which is the thing that makes it appetizing. Cats need a blend of strains of probiotic A good bacteria for diarrhea is s. boullardi. More detail here. I also recommend Visbiome, which you can also get from the manufacturers website.

That vidbiome is over $70! Would this product do the same thing? His poop is just liquid today and I’m not sure what to do in the meantime

edited to add: I cannot get the Visbiome Until July 10-12
And he needs something before then

This is not a 911, we reserve that for medical emergencies. If you my post, I suggested s. boullardi for diarrhea. You should be able to get that at your local vitamin store, and even the pharmacy section of most grocery stores. Florastor is one common brand, but there are others. You should be able to get some today in a local store. It's a common human treatment.

Also in the link I posted is some recommendations for the types of probiotics that a cat needs. You can get them in human probiotics too, such as Renew Ultimate.

The probiotic for cats that you showed a picture of, wasn't a link. What I found it was over $70! It should work though.

hi Rosie, I’ve used this product before from Amazon of Chewy for Ivy and it worked very well. Maybe you could use it until you can get the probiotic? Just an idea. I keep it in my cabinet for emergencies.
I hope Watson feels better.

I’m sorry, I erased the 911. I thought it was an emergency. I was able to find the florastor in a pharmacy. Thank you for your help. I’m sorry to be a pain in your butt.

I get Visbiome capsules, 40 for about $58 and give 1/3 of a capsule a day. My pet insurance pays for it so I get it from the vet.

I don’t have pet insurance, with four cats it is just not affordable. My Snickers has liver cancer and with Watson’s diabetes those are both pre-existing and not covered anyway I’ll definitely look for a lower price on the visbiome but in the meantime I was able to find some florastat. I gave him some at supper last night, but he wouldn’t eat his whole dinner. Looks like he did a better job this morning. Thanks for always being so helpful, I really appreciate it
