Watson has been doing much better. 3 Days in a row with only 2 numbers in the very low 300's and all the rest in the 200's. Still has loose poop occasionally, which he tracked around the house this morning (on carpet) :-(

I'm going to order some FortiFlora today and hope that helps. I have one kitty who gets constipated and all the kitties eat out of each other's bowls - will this be a problem if they eat it?

Sorry to hear about the tummy (and your carpet :(). It looks like Watson needs to go up to 2.0 Units. With SLGS, you evaluate the dose after 7 days then perform a curve. I think you have enough tests that a curve (every 2 hours for 12 hours or every 3 hours for 18 hours) isn't necessary and the data you have calls for an increase.

I know that fortiflora is more of a flavor enhancer and not the best probiotic. Tagging Bhooma @Bandit's Mom who is more knowledgeable than I with using S boulardii (for diarrhea). She was just talking about it on this thread earlier today. :cat:

Watson was on 2 units up until 4/23 when he had several hours of low 50's and a 49 no matter how I tried to raise it. I was told then to reduce to 1.75 so I'm afraid to go back up to 2.

I agree with Angela. It’s time to go up to 2.0. The last time he was in 2 units was 11 days ago and you have not seen a bg under 150. The last time was after you reduced from 2.5 and the depot was in play.

I understand your fear and hesitation with the dose :bighug:. It helped me when I was told that insulin is a hormone and not an antibiotic and insulin needs change. A dose that was good a month ago may become stale. Our job as the caregiver is to follow the numbers and increase and decrease according to the dosing method chosen. When looking at Watson's nadirs, they are above the 90-149 objective with the SLGS dosing method. You've held the 1.75 dose long enough to see that he isn't quite where you want him to be. A little more juice is the method to get his numbers down into this range. :)

What will happen if my other cats eat it though? They all eat out of all the different bowls
Nothing. I would feed separately to make sure Watson gets the full amount. When Chai was having diarrhea I put it in baby food at first and she lapped it up. It’s tasteless so you don’t need much food to mix it in.
