@Bandit's Mom So yesterday ( 2 days in a row) was amazing numbers .Today I guess a bounce ?I thought he was finally regulating :arghh: Should I be disappointed is this still expected I mean to bounce ? Also he still has diarrhea I’m getting the S.biudardii today and I am so sad that he is going off the YAZ . Do you still think it’s possible for him to reverse the neuropathy ? Is it normal to have diarrhea 3 days in a row because of the YAZ ?

How long has he been on the YAZ? I wonder if something else is giving him the diarrhea? Try the S. Boulardii and see if the diarrhea resolves? Does he have soft stools or frequent stools?

How is his appetite?

I guess the bounce was inevitable but it's encouraging that he bounced after 3 days in good numbers.

Is there a chance that he is eating in the last few hours of the cycle? That could contribute to the bouncing/ higher preshots. Unless he's heading lower, it's better if he doesn't get food in the second half of the cycle when the insulin action is reducing.

Ok So he had Diarrhea and again this morning . I just looked back at his spreadsheet notes and he’s been having diarrhea on and off ever since he started the Yaz .it smells really bad as well . He is eating but he’s totally not wanting the YAZ like he used to.So he ate some this morning just not like he usually does.i gave him churu he would eat that all day if he could also I just tried his old weight management Farmina just wanted to see if he would eat and he did but I only gave him a few as I really don’t want him getting high BG. So I am thinking he just is going off the YAZ and it has clearly changed his bowel movements intermittently since he has been on it and I would say he is on it maybe 5 weeks . So what do I do now ? I’m almost afraid to keep trying to get him to eat it if it makes him have diarrhea . I ordered Dr.Esleys salmon flavour on Amazon they don’t carry the chicken it seems anymore anywhere in Canada.Just wanted to say that he has been having formed stools but wetter than normal since YAZ and intermittent Diarrhea but not for 3 days in a row

Start him on S. Boulardii as soon as you can get it. Hopefully that will take care of the diarrhea.

Don't feed him after +6 in any cycle unless it is one of those cycles where he is dropping through the cycle. He seems to do that in bounce breaking cycles - nadir at the end.

Once the Elsey's arrives, see if mixing the two helps? Maybe less of YAZ in a day is what he needs?

Just to clarify, he has diarrhea once a day but not the runs (runny poop many times a day)?

Yes once a day only except the first day he got it he had it once in the morning and once in the night

One-half of a 250mg capsule (5 billion CFU) twice daily.

Do you get the Jarrow's brand in Canada? When buying S. Boulardii look for one without lactose or larch arabinogalactan.

Brands of S boulardii:

In the U.S. Jarrow is one of the most widely available. It is combined with MOS (mannanoligosaccharides) which improve its efficacy. Florastor is available in many large chain stores, but it contains lactose, which may exacerbate diarrhea in some cats due to the common lactose intolerance.

Walmart has a store brand very similar to Florastor, called Equate but without the lactose. Renew Life, carried by most Whole Foods stores, has two S boulardii products, one with larch arabinogalactan. Buy the one WITHOUT this ingredient.

There are many brands of S boulardii available online: anything with just plain S boulardii in capsules of 3 billion CFU to 5 billion CFU will do.

Ok Thanks again for all your help . I really appreciate it .

Just one more question Do you still have Bandit if so how old ? Also is it possible to reverse the neuropathy without being regulated ? I noticed on Bandits spreadsheet you are or were giving methyl B12 shots? Is that the pink shot ? I didn’t think the shot you get at the vets was the right kind of B12 ? Did you also give Zobaline too ?

I don't know. Bandit had neuropathy in the first few months of diagnosis but it resolved (after quite some time). Her blood sugar has been all over the place - especially after she refused to eat YAZ from 2021 and started eating only high carb kibble (16% carbs), but the neuropathy never came back - Thank God! But it might vary from cat to cat.

I was giving Bandit methyl B12 (the drug that Zobaline contains) orally - but she refused to eat food mixed with it which is why I switched to methyl B12 shots. They can be given subcutaneously like insulin. It also helps cats with CKD which Bandit developed a couple of years after her diabetes DX.

There are 2 kinds of B12 shots - cyanocabalamin B12 which is given intra-muscularly by the vet and methylcobalamin B12 which can be given orally (like Zobaline) or as shots (I'm not sure you get methyl B12 injections easily in North America). It is Methyl B12 that helps with neuropathy.

I have been giving Bailie Zobaline since shortly after diagnosis and nothing so far do you think if it hasn’t had effect yet after all this time 4 months on Zobaline that he won’t get better from the neuropathy ?

Give him time. His numbers are looking better and hopefully that will help with his neuropathy. All you can do is try to get him to a good dose which you are doing a great job of. I know it's very heart-breaking to see neuropathy (I've been there), but diabetes is a marathon, so you just have to keep at it. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you so much Bhooma !!

Bailie just had another liquid poop . I’m not sure what to do as far as feeding him goes ? Also I just got an email from the distributor of the DrEsleys saying they can’t deliver it to Canada . So I have no clue what to feed To Bailie , I’m so stressed out now . I don’t think I should keep feeding him the YAZ . What do I do ? I’m so sorry to be such a bother today .
Thank you so much Bhooma !!

Do you have Dr. Elsey's coming from Amazon? When does it reach you? Is Wysong Epigen 90 available in Canada? That's also a low carb kibble.

What other food do you have that he will eat? I see he is having an active cycle and is down to blues.

No they won’t send it to canada

I have Farmina weight Management dry and Farmina digestion dry .

I don’t know how to put a picture here, but the one that I have got is renewlife S.Boulardii Max 10 billion active cultures and it doesn’t give a mg on the box anywhere. So I don’t know what dose it is .

So you don't have Dr. Elsey's coming to you? It was Amazon US and not Amazon Canada?

Both are way too high in carbs :(

Does it have anything besides S. Boulardii?

Try the emergency stop diarrhea dosing for S. Boulardii which is one-quarter of a 5 billion CFU capsule every 2-3 hours. Do this for 2-3 days and see if that helps the diarrhea? Since you have a 10 billion CFU capsule, you would give 1/8th capsule every 2-3 hours.

No nothing else just that
They sent me a email saying that they won’t send to Canada so it must’ve been the US site that I used because there’s nothing available in Canada. But a really nice lady messaged me from the FDM Facebook page and she has a bag that’s expired just by a few days and she’s willing to send it to me, which is so kind of her.
