just took blood and 30min after eating its now 97, im assuming it wont go over 115 since it doesnt seem to be rising much after meals and lately only seems to be falling. No ketones in urine

UPDATE: since it was getting late I gave him 1 unit to be a little cautious since I have to sleep in the next few hrs. I will check him in 30 min again and then every hr before I go to bed at 3am (US East)

The larger dose depot can influence 4-6 cycles after a reduction. If following TR, those reductions are earned when they go below 68 on the AT.

thank you, my question is how can we be sure it didnt drop below 70? Or even drop below 69 yesterday? Those tests just happen to be snapshots in time, and seem a little concerning even after giving him a good amount of medium carb food (12% carbs DMA). The data suggests his insulin dosage needs have significantly reduced over the last 2 weeks from over 400 for majority of the week now to anywhere from 70-100 preshot even with reductions 4-6 cycles back, so i'm kind of struggling to find a base dose at the moment. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Thanks,
Devin

First suggestion is to start a new post for today. The older ones can get ignored as the standard is to start a new post each day that you post.

We go by what we see, not by what might have happened. The TR reduction point is below 68, ie. 67 or lower on the AT.

Your spreadsheet says you are feeding Hills Glucosupport (higher carb) but the signature says Weruva and Solistic (lower carb). When did you make the switch? That could also explain the needs for less insulin.

I completely cut out Hills Gluccosupport as a main dish on 4/14 which I added in the comments for my spreadsheet tab for when I was using the Libre 3 for monitoring. I have been referring to that as Medium carb food and actually gave some to him the last 2 days when he was at 69 and 70, which only spiked it about 20mg before dropping back down or so. I believe thats around 12% carbs on DMA, is that considered high? I thought on this board anything under 10% is considered low, but perhaps I'm incorrect. Oh wow I didnt ealize i still had that food listed (have to scroll right). I can remove that and only keep on the signature

I'm still struggling to find a good dose that I can hold for at least a few days straight without him dropping too low but i'll keep trying. thanks

Hello @djett , I just took a peek at your kitties spreadsheet. I'm happy to see he is getting more blues and greens! Congrats!

I'm a new member as well as of 2 months ago, im not sure if this was mentioned in previous previous posts from the moderators, but some advice I was given that helped me become less anxious when giving insulin at lower preshot numbers is: with Lantus (which my kitty is on too) you typically will see less steep of a decrease in numbers over the cycle. Which thus far that has been true for my kitty.

The only time that may not be true is if kitty didn't eat enough before their insulin injection (then you would want to feed them a little more food the next time they're due for a meal) or their pancreas is healing and starting to make their own insulin (then you would take a reduction if nadir is less than 68 when following TR).

I've learned from the moderators changes in dose go by nadirs not preshot numbers. If youre worried about shooting a low preshot in the AM/PM because you need to work or sleep, just leave a snack out for your kitty to help slow the curve. In my experience that took experimenting with food and how much to leave out for my Mr. Mazi so I didn't leave out too much food and woke up to a high BG.

On the other end, if preshot is a high number, you would expect to see a steeper or bigger drop in numbers. You could leave out a snack to slow the curve.

Hopefully those suggestions help. And if I am incorrect with anything @Wendy&Neko or @Diane Tyler's Mom please correct me so I dont steer @djett in the wrong direction and I can learn more myself.

Thank you! Yeah his nadir seems to be dropping below 75 often, tonights was 65, so when the preshot is low it scares me that the nadir will be even lower!
