ok this is rediculous! After an increase 3 days ago, we had the worst numbers in months. We keep insulin refrigerated but I think it might be bad. I asked hubby how old it was since he takes care of it, he checked and it’s 3 months old. I seem to remember reading other posts saying it keeps longer but I think it may be bad.
How long should refrigerated insulin last?
He is ordering a new one today and will use it tonight.

Thanks for any info and hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I guess it’s not the insulin. Just got +2 277, so it’s working. Just a bad night…
As long as it's refrigerated and no cloudy or floaties, etc, it should be fine, Deb. I used a vial and it lasted me about 5 months, no issues that I knew of. I usually use pens given the choice, but I wanted to use up the vial.

(((@Deb and Tiger))))))) I can feel the discouragement in your posts and I just want you to remember, ECID(Every Cat Is Different) in reaction to insulin. I always would get so down reading other's SS and then looking at my poor girl Tiger's numbers but you can't do that! Each cat has their own insulin needs and it's like a dance step that we have to learn to follow and only Tiger knows the steps. Also, there are many instances of cats marching up the dosing scale, only to come back down. Insulin being a hormone doesn't work the same way in a body. How is Tiger's pancereatitis doing? I noted he is still getting the Cerenia. Hugs Deb!

Hi Ruth! So nice to see you here again. Does that mean the remodel is done?
Thanks for the ECID reminder. I know this but it’s hard when we are not getting anywhere.
As for the tummy, we are keeping him on a maintenance dose of cerenia, hoping to keep it under control. Although he got sick last night but more of an eating too fast kind. Hubby gave him his 3am food but not his usual but one he loves and I think he gobbled too fast. Fingers crossed it was just a blurp.

Have a great day, missed you here!

Thx Staci, I thought so and it’s definitely working. He’s in a dive I’m trying to slow now…

I wouldn't slow him down. He's barely blue. You want him to spend as much time as possible in blues. You could feed him a tsp LC wet, but that's it. Higher carb should be left until well below 100. Keeping his body in higher numbers means his body is getting used to them.

It seemed to just slow him a bit, still in blue and going down. Letting it ride now, 2 hrs after that bit of food. LC doesn’t really affect him….was hoping to avoid a big bounce but I don’t think it will.
Thx Wendy
