Yikes. That’s a high amps, which followed a nice overnight stretch of “Libre greens”. So those numbers are higher in a handheld, but still nice to see. And her am cycle was also lower in Libre greens, some under 100 numbers on Handheld.
She really seems to do a big, drastic bounce after these lower cycles, then comes back down.
As for the hyperthyroid situation…spoke with my primary vet yesterday, finally. We went over her labs. She feels strongly Ivy should take methemizole meds and see how she does. She doesn’t think Ivy would do well with the I131 treatment, especially the hospital stay and concerns of eating (and kidney/diabetes). She also feels that such a radical treatment can injure her kidneys and she doesn’t think it’s worth the risk given her many complicated conditions we are trying to balance.
I also heard back from Blue Pearl Levittown and they don’t think she’s a good candidate given all her concerns and temperament.
HypurrCat in NYC so far won’t even return my call. They want you to fill out extensive paperwork and arrange for a review by Dr. Peterson (at a fee) and they will let you know if you will be considered into his program.
So at the moment it looks like we are headed for the meds and will try them and see how she responds, then have labs done in about 6 weeks to assess, and see from there. We will try the transdermal ear medicine as I have read has a better chance of less side effects (paws crossed). I insisted on the lowest possible dose of .625 mg for a starting point. There is a local compounding pharmacy that I will use and should have the meds by probably Friday or Saturday. (Very nervous of these meds from what I’ve been reading. Really hoping she doesn’t lose her appetite).
Wishing you all a calm day with very safe surfing
