3/18, Falafel, AMPS 269 +2 340 PMPS 285

Go down to a drop. Why do you want to skip? SLGS inherently provides for caregivers not being able to test every cycle - which is why every drop below 90 is a reduction.
I gave the drop, and thanks for clarifying about SLGS. I’m nervous to go away today. So I needed the extra push to give her the shot :P

I really couldn’t tell that there was any insulin in the syringe (I did the depress the plunger technique), but whatever was in there, went into Falafel!

Wishing you a safe day for Falafel!!

Thanks, @Staci & Ivy !!

Falafel’s +2 is all the way at 340! Could this be a bounce from the dark green last night? I had to leave for work so I won’t be able to investigate until tonight. :(

Yes, she's probably bouncing after 2 consecutive nights in green. It's okay if you cannot test till PMPS :)
Thanks Bhooma. I will try to stay calm. Counting down the hours until I can go home.

It’s funny, I forgot real life moves on because I’ve been in CAT CRISIS mode for the last 3 weeks. It’s weird to be at my desk working.

We both survived our first day apart <3 and my sister said she can stay with her tomorrow... so Wednesday will be our first day with Falafel truly alone during the day. Maybe I can get someone else to stay with her then, too :p

I came home to LOTS OF POOP (diarrhea) in both litter boxes. So pausing the Miralax for now, but continuing with the pumpkin since I think that is helping.

We're also back on Clavamox, the urinalysis returned and my vet wants to try a longer dose of the same antibiotic since she thinks the diabetes was helping the bacteria thrive and preventing the previous round from clearing it up.

I still don't think my drop dose exists (how minuscule is it??), but I did it. Let's see what happens tonight.

Hello again. Does anyone have advice on how to measure the one drop dose?

I am using VetRx U-100 syringes. I tried the depressing the plunger method (depressing the plunger, inserting the needle into the pen, and releasing the plunger while inside). I tried testing this out to see if anything comes out, and I strongly suspect this method may not work with this type of syringe... I just tried an alternate method - pulled out the tiniest bit of insulin I could manage, and then depressed the plunger to see what I had managed to suck in from the pen. With that method it seemed like I got 1 drop of insulin to come out of the needle.

I think I may have inadvertently skipped Falafel's AM and PM shots today by following the depression method. I really do not think any insulin was in there :( any advice?

Try going back to how you were measuring 0.1 units. Maybe do this with coloured liquid such as a apple/grape juice, or tea etc. Then twist the plunger until you get a drop out. Try doing this several times so you know how to get consistent size drops out. Count how many are in your 0.1 unit dose. Your drop dose could be 1/2 that. Say for example it is 2 drops. A 1 drop dose would be the 0.1 units dose with one drop removed.
