Happy Gotcha Day to my sweet boy Max. Never would I have ever known what we would go through together. He’s been there for me in some of the hardest times, and I’ve been there for him as acromegaly caused so many things to go wrong in his little body. We got Max in 2011 from an animal shelter. I did not want another cat at the time. I’d just lost a cat to kidney failure. It broke my heart and my husband thought I would feel better with a new cat. He took me to Raleigh one night, saying we were going to dinner. Next thing I know we are at the animal shelter. He talked me in to going inside to see the cats. Most all of them were friendly, but Max was curled up in his cage looking so sad. He seemed as though he was afraid. I took him out of the cage and held him, then that was it. Love at first sight I guess. He had been surrendered by another family and he was 10 months old. He’s really the sweetest most loving cat I’ve ever had and I would choose him over and over again. He’s had asthma most of his life, but has done well with treatment. Not really any problems until he started having symptoms of diabetes, and acromegaly. He still plays and is very affectionate. He loves the Christmas tree every year. I put it up today, and he’s already found him a spot under it. :cat:
I’m taking him tomorrow for his checkup. I hope and pray that we get good news.

Awww, Lori that’s such a beautiful story of you and Max. Thank you for sharing it. He was truly meant for you. Happy Gotcha day.
I hope Max is doing well.

I had a similar story of my first cat. I was supposed to pick up a cat picked out for me. But I saw one sitting in the corner looking so sad and lonely. He grabbed my heart and I knew he needed to be chosen. That was Coco. He was the ambassador of our home. Acted like a dog. Greeted anyone who showed up. He was a true buddy cat. I still miss him every day. It’s been 18 years :(

Sometimes you just know the cat that’s meant to be yours. Enjoy every day with Max :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you Staci, that was so sweet.:bighug::bighug::bighug: Yes I agree with you. I just knew when I saw him, he’d be mine. He’s been my little buddy for 12 years now and I love him more and more every day. We really get attached to these fur babies don’t we?
Max had his checkup at the vet today. We talked about a lot of things… his meds, his blood pressure, etc. She was happy about his spreadsheet looking better. He’s slept the whole afternoon, snoring lol. His exam was good, just waiting on his lab results. Hoping they are stable. Thanks again for your nice words.

@Max & Lori , Happy Gotcha Day to you and Max! My eyes teared up reading your gotcha story! You were truly meant to be together, and I can always feel the big love you have for your guy when I read your posts!!! You two have been through a lot together, I have witnessed through the years, there is something about sugar kitties and acro kitties and their humans, a special bond that is truly special to behold. I'm glad to read Max had a nice vetty visit, not too stressed out LOL! Will keep fingers and paws crossed for good lab results. Is he still getting BP meds? How did that go today? Hope you are taking good care of yourself as well, Max is so blessed to have you as his human, a match made in Heaven!:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
