Hello Everyone
I generally post in the forum dealing with insulin protocols and DM.
Eddie’s situation is that he has acromegaly although he’s also had hypophysectomy to remove tumour snd pituitary. He’s also had radiation. The situation is that he is at great risk for anesthesia and has dental problems that require a specialist and anesthesiologist and that’s are 5 hours away by car on roads not driver-friendly in winter.
The aim is to keep his dental issues- inflammation and infection—controlled until spring, I.e, June when roads are ok and we can get to the specialist. You will see from his spreadsheet that this past week his BG numbers are quite stable and encouraging given that he was on 7 days of Clavaseptin (1.25mg BiD).
The vet with whom I'm working is quite receptive to trying out the protocol but has no experience with it and has found negative responses in various places she's checked. But she is not resistant at all to trying it out.
She was suggesting 7 days on and 21 days off in order to prevent antibiotic resistance as much as possilbe.
Again, please note: this protocol would not be in perpetuity but just until June of next year.
I’m seeking your thoughts on the protocol in general if you have experience of it. What type of antibiotic was used.
Again Eddie's vet is trying to find info and is willing to hear (which is rare) what I can learn here at FDMB.
Thank you!
