Yup… furshot/miss. So… Not that it really needs context, but I was giving her her p.m. shot under duress. I had too much stuff going on… And I really need to make it a point to separate myself from everything else while I am doing this, but that’s easier said than done in my house
I usually give her a shot while she’s distracted, eating, but I fed her and should have given her the shot right away, but I was dealing with issues with my child among other things, and set the syringe down for the moment, and when I went back to the kitchen to give her her shot. She was already done eating, so I gave her a few of her baked chicken treats to try to occupy her, but it didn’t really work the same and she was moving around, although it did not seem like anything was out of the ordinary at first while I was giving the injection it felt like the plunger was too hard to depress, so I pulled it out, and re-inserted it to give the rest of the shot, but by that time there was probably only a quarter of her shot left in the syringe. Once I was done, I saw there was liquid on her fur. I have no idea how much insulin missed, but it was enough.
I have to assume I guess somehow the needle came out of her skin, although it did not seem like that should have been an issue. I shaved her recently, so it’s not like I can’t see what’s going on… I was being too hasty because I was trying to get the shot in her before she ran off, I guess.
So… I am going to keep an eye on her numbers tonight, but OF COURSE… we will be gone all day tomorrow so there will be no testing going on between her morning shot and her evening shot. She’s going to be on an auto feeder. At least I’ll be able to get some numbers tonight though. Seems like things happen at just the wrong time.
Trying not to let myself stress about it too much, but I already did that, with the whole “what an idiot I am“ routine.

well… Her last fur shot didn’t seem to affect her all that much so hopefully this one won’t either, but who knows, when you’re hoping for hitting that right number what the real affect is.
