AMPS 359

Question about TR dosing - tonight's PM dose is Day 5 (10th dose). I'm increasing by 0.25 tomorrow AM, because he had nadirs under 200, correct? Just want to be sure I understand and shouldn't hold.

Hi Alli,
I started out with AT2 and when I transitioned from AT2 to a human meter, I used both from the same pool of blood to see what the differences are like.
I have those data in Mikan's SS - 3rd tab at the bottom labelled AT2 vs FSL. I still use both sometimes, just to make sure I'm not getting fooled with a bad strip. Also, when it gets too low, I sometimes se AT2 to assure myself that Mikan's number isn't horribly dangerous. We are all so prone to worry about our babies, you know! I struggle with it a lot too :p
I am definitely doing this if I ever see lows! I also should've done it when he had his black the other morning. I still freeze up a bit in these moments, but I'm getting better each day. CMON Smudge, let's get low today. :arghh:

Morning, Alli. Smudge looked good yesterday. What a good boy! Hope he comes down smoothly today and surfs safely. Have a nice Saturday :bighug::bighug:

Good morning Alli.
I know how frustrating it is to see the pink number first thing in the morning!
Too high, depressing. Too low, panicking. We can't win, can we
Hang in there Alli. Smudge will find his way to get down and stay down!
We all have to believe that! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Wow! Good morning everybody and happy Caturday!! Hoping for a repeat low blues or even the beloved greens today. Pink is so frustrating in the PS number (I love the PM yellows lately though, blue is still scary), it's a heck of a lot better than reds that he frequented for a while. Progess right?

Increasing the dose:
  • Hold the dose for 3 - 5 days (6 - 10 consecutive cycles) if nadirs are less than 200 before increasing the dose by 0.25 unit.
    • when your cat starts to see nadirs under 100, hold the dose for at least 10 cycles before increasing.

And this is why I always needed help on whether or not to increase. When I look at the above, and look at Smudge's numbers....well, he had nadirs under 100 on this dose on 9/20 and 9/22. So the advice *might* be to hold for 10 cycles from the 20th.

But he also had nadirs under 200 but above 100 last 2 days. So I don't freakin' know lol.

:banghead: :bookworm:    :bighug:

That's why I'm not sure either!! I read it the same way as you.

239 PMPS

Looking over the data...you can definitely see the PMPS numbers trending down! That's great.

I once graphed every single AMPS and PMPS from six months of work. it was pretty cool to see the gradual decrease in the PMPS BGs, meanwhile the stubborn AMPS numbers just kept chugging along with virtually no change until BOOM one day a low AMPS, and then they started to come down also. I think that was around the 3 month mark for Hendrick.

{edit} holy #$% I found it

Every PMPS

You need some tests later than +3 at night because we don’t know how low Smudge is going at night and cats are often lower at night. So hold the dose. Seeing the pink amps makes me want to know. You only have half of the picture. A +4-6 would help.

Unfortunately it's not possible for me to get them often. I wish that I could.

I can't wait to see a low AMPS! I figure with his trends, it'll be his last to lower. Especially with that black the other day that dang near crumpled me into a ball of sadness.

What did you feed at +3?

With that type of drop from PMPS to +3, it looks to be an active cycle—might even be heading for a dose reduction. I would NOT wait until +6 to test again if at all possible to get one sooner.

You don’t need to test later than +3 every night but a few times a week will help fill in the puzzle. Nice to see that green.

To respond to the earlier tag, you are correct. Since Smudge is relatively new to nadirs in the green, you hold the dose for at least 10 cycles/5 days.

When you mentioned the black AMPS, if it were me, I would have re-tested. That AMPS was not the norm for your cat. It could have been a bad test or bad strip.
