Nadine, could you please start adding the date to the subject lines and follow our standard format for them. I linked the post with the details in yesterday's post. It makes it so much easier for us to follow what is happening. I originally thought this was just a continuation of yesterday's thread.
As mentioned yesterday, the "high" readings you are getting are either due to bounces from low numbers or drops at night we aren't seeing, or possibly due to too low a dose. Thankfully he's coming down now. It's also possible the High is the high before the low as he breaks the bounce.
Only start the switch to Levemir on a day when you can monitor very closely for the first couple cycles. I wouldn't personally start overnight unless you are willing to stay up. Some cats have a very strong reaction to the switch. I've seen a kitty who never saw below 300 get a long string of greens the first day of the switch to Lev. And that's with a reduced starting dose. We suggest starting at 70% of the Lantus dose, just in case Theodore is one of those that will show a strong reaction. However, we can quickly fast track up if numbers stay high and you can get enough testing in. So, the new Lev dose would be 2.75 units. That's rounded up a little bit, but I'm also worried about the ketones history. Please test for ketones every day as this is a smaller dose and it'll take a while for the Lev depot to build as the Lantus depot is decreasing.
