Long time….
We moved a few months ago and Jade has been in heaven. We have a new Vet that she’s seen a few times has been doing great on .5 unit for quite sometime. Went to pick up a new Lantus pen at Walmart and he couldn’t sell just one so
Jade was switched from a Lantus pen to a “generic” glargine-yfgn vile. This evening was our first use.
Gave her .5 unit at 6:00 (PMPS 229) and +2 is 70.
Gave gravy but still seems to be dropping… help??
I asked him repeatedly if it was exactly the and and he repeatedly said yes.
No emergency vets where I’m at.
Her behavior is fine but I’m shaking worried about her. Did I give her something that could kill her??

Hi Jill, a quick Google search says that
Semglee (insulin glargine-yfgn) is also a long-acting insulin. It was first approved in June 2020. It became an interchangeable biosimilar to Lantus in July 2021.​
No need to worry.
Have you taken another test?

If under 68 you need to be rubbing some honey or Karo on the gums and giving some high carb food…not too much though. And test every 20 minutes and keep doing the same…rubbing honey or Karo until the BG comes up.

After this last dose of Karo (15 minutes ago) she went from
55 to 142… finally a bump.
 
Now that she’s up please remove the 911 and if you need it again (which I doubt will happen) add it. How old was your lantus? Perhaps it lost potency. You dint have a 2023 ss. How’s her bg been running?

She’s been great. She usually starts around 200 or so and glides down to the low 100’s.
Lantus is a few months old which is why I went to get new. She’s only on .5 unit. It makes no sense to me why she would fall that low-that fast.
